Fly-in Harare

We will pick you from Harare International Airport and transfer you by road for a drive heading to another province of Masvingo where you will settle at Ancient City Lodge for three nights. Built on a granite outcrop, the Lodge at the Ancient City has sweeping views of a valley filled with trees, and faces in the direction of the Great Zimbabwe monument, so that you can see the Great Enclosure with its famous Conical Tower from the Lodge. Lake Mutirikwi, the third largest man-made dam in Zimbabwe, can also be seen. The lodges are built from stone and thatch, with structures of granite stonewalling capturing the atmosphere of Zimbabwe’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival and check-in you will relax in the spacious thatched round hutted lodges as you await to conclude the evening with dinner.

The Great Zimbabwe Monuments

After breakfast on this second day you will taken for the highlight of your itinerary by your guide which is the Great Zimbabwe Ruins Tour. You will be impacted by knowledge of learning about the method of construction of Great Zimbabwe which is unique in African architecture and, although they are examples of similar work elsewhere, none are as distinguished and imposing as such ruins. It is an edifice which emulates that of the prehistoric people and is unquestionably of Bantu origin. The Shona word Zimbabwe means the house in stone. After the tour you will be taken for a traditional lunch experience with locals as you dine for Zimbabwe cuisine then conclude the day with dinner at the lodge. The following day you will be picked in the morning for the speed boat tour over Lake Mutirikwi then head back to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy the Sicato lion park tour as you learn of lion livelihoods and their survival in nature, tie the last evening back at the lodge with dinner.

Transfer to Harare

Sadly every safari and holiday draws to an end but we are grateful of the memories you enjoyed and created with us in this historical ruins tour of Great Zimbabwe. Depending with your flight time you will be transferred by your driver after breakfast to Harare International Airport to catch your flight if you are leaving Zimbabwe the same day or to a hotel you could have booked yourself.
