Day 1
Windhoek to Sossusvlei
Windhoek to Sossusvlei
You'll meet at 8:30 am and once you are all aboard, you will depart and set off on your safari adventure to the Namib Desert. The route today takes you south through the town of Rehoboth and then southwest through the scenic Khomas Hochland highlands to the edge of the Great Escarpment. Here, you will stop to stretch your legs and soak up the dramatic view from the top of the Spreetshoogte Pass. Descending the Pass, you can appreciate the origins of the name Namib and Namibia, meaning great plain, as you drop down to the expansive Namib Desert plains below you. The last leg of your journey from Solitaire to Sesriem is through stunning landscapes, with your first glimpses of the apricot-coloured dunes in the distance. The camp is situated at the gate of the Namib Naukluft National Park. Upon arrival at camp, you can make yourself at home in your comfortable dome tent and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure around the camp pool or explore the surrounding area on foot as appeals.

Day 2
Sesriem to Sossusvlei to Sesriem Canyon
Sesriem to Sossusvlei to Sesriem Canyon
Rise early before the sun with a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light snack. Then, set off for the excursion into the Namib Naukluft National Park, home to Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, Dune 45 and the apricot-coloured sand dunes. The park conserves 50,000 sq km of pristine desert, one of the oldest on earth, and is one of the largest national parks in Africa. The first stop is at Dune 45. You can climb to the top and then descend for a hot drink and breakfast pack. We'll then carry on to Sossusvlei. You spend the cooler hours of the morning exploring Deadvlei and Sossusvlei and getting to know the surprising variety of flora and fauna. Afterwards, seek shade under a tree amongst the dunes and have a picnic lunch. Return to the vehicle and drive back along the river valley to Sesriem, where you will stop to view Sesriem Canyon. The small canyon is 1.5km long and 30m at its deepest, and it is best appreciated when walking down into its cool depths. Later, return to Sesriem Canyon.
