Your Kilimanjaro On Foot guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast for a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, which takes about two and a half hours on well-maintained roads. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River, the primary water source for wildlife during the dry season. Known for its large elephant herds, you’ll likely see these magnificent creatures gathering by the river, along with giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. Predators like lions and leopards are also in the mix. Tarangire boasts the highest diversity of breeding bird species in the world, and you’ll encounter the impressive ancient Baobab trees, some believed to be over a thousand years old.

After breakfast, you'll head into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you first behold Ngorongoro Crater, it reveals itself as a hidden paradise. Enclosed by steep volcanic walls, this pristine wilderness boasts vast savannahs, clusters of acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. The Crater was formed when a colossal volcano erupted and collapsed two to three million years ago, spanning 260 km². It is celebrated not only for its stunning geological features but also as a natural reserve that supports some of the highest populations of large mammals in Africa. As you descend into the Crater, you'll encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. Serengeti National Park to Karatu
The Serengeti is nothing short of spectacular. Renowned for its expansive grasslands, it offers incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. The region’s climate and vegetation have remained largely unchanged for millions of years. While the Serengeti is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, it is perhaps most famous for the annual Great Migration, where vast herds of wildebeest, along with large groups of zebra and antelope, follow a seasonal path in search of fresh grazing. The migration can be witnessed throughout the year—you just need to know where to look! The focus should be on the best spots to see the animals at different times. Alongside the iconic landscapes, you’re likely to encounter predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, making for a truly transformative experience.
In the afternoon, you'll begin your journey back to Karatu, hopefully savoring even more breathtaking sights along the way!

Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small yet diverse gem located 120 km west of Arusha. Here, everything is experienced on a different scale—compact in size (it's one of the narrowest parks in Africa) yet grand in beauty, with the Great Rift Escarpment looming majestically over the western edge of the park. The park’s namesake is a shallow, saline lake that spans a significant portion of the area, flooding and drying with the seasons, attracting thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other species. In the lush evergreen forest, you might spot baboons and elephants, and keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing lions that have captivated visitors from around the world.
You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch within the park. After your game drive, you’ll bid farewell to your guide and be dropped off at your chosen location, whether it’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport.
