Early in the morning we drope you to Bole International Airport and you will fly to Semera. Pick up from Airport in Semera, then drive through Lake Afdera the Salt Lake, passing through the beautiful Lake Afdera and a breath-taking landscape. You will drive about 7-8 hours to reach Hamed’Ela. On the way, you will stop at Lake Afdera for lunch and maybe even swim a bit. We will stop before arriving Hamed’Ela for taking sunset picture in the desert with some palm trees. Depends on the time, this evening we will visit lake Asale with salt flats and have wine or beer drink in the stunning place while you are swimming in the Salt Lake.

Visit Dallol and Drive to Erta Ale
Early morning we drive from Hamed’Ela campsite, to see the sunrise at Lake Asele. Drive to Hamed’Ela through Berhal’e. Passing through the small town Berhale, where the camel caravan stops before passing to the Northern Highland. En-route you will see many long camel caravans going to the salt mine and other coming out of Danakil with their salt loaded on the camel. Drive to Askoma and stop, trek 10 minute from Askoma. We drive back to Hamed’Ela and have Lunch. After lunch, continue driving to Erta’Ale, which ranks as one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and a 1 km square caldera at its Summit. After a short break and, just before sunset, we will trek for about 20 to 30 minutes to Erta’Ale caldera, where we spend a few hours watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. After taking picture, you will trek back to the camp and you will have dinner and sleep under the stars.

Drive to Semera and Fly Back to Addis Ababa
Woke up early in the morning, we trek to the caldera and watching the two miraculous things on Earth, sun rising and fresh magma at the same time. You will trek back to the camp site and have breakfast. After breakfast, we drive to Afdera. We stop and visit Lake Afdera. The Lake is only visible during the Ethiopian rainy season, but we might have a little chance to see during the summer the mythical Lake Afdera, a saltwater lake located more than 100 meters below sea level, in one of the deepest depressions of the planet. Because of the picturesque landscape, it is interesting to visit the salt flats where the Afar people obtain the salt by evaporating the water of the lake. After visiting the lake, you will have lunch and continue our drive to Semera airport on asphalt road and have a domestic flight to Addis Ababa.
