Day 1

Transfer, Sunset Drive and Boma Braai

We pick you up from your hotel in Johannesburg or O.R. Tambo Airport and travel via the Highveld grasslands to Tremisana Game Lodge in the Kruger Park. Board an open Land Cruiser for a 4-hour sunset drive, your first opportunity to experience the fauna and flora of Africa. Watch the magnificent African sunset and, after dark, use a spotlight to view nocturnal animals. Dinner at the Marula Tree Boma will be a bush barbeque. After dinner, continue with your night drive and stay overnight in en-suite, air-conditioned chalets.

Day 2

Bush Walk and Sundowner Game Drive

Bush Walk and Sundowner Game Drive

At sunrise, we drive to the Olifants River for a 4-hour bush walk. Your rangers will show you many secrets of the bush. Adrenalin surges will be acute even if your rangers are adequately armed. Return to Tremisana for brunch. Later, you can relax in your air-conditioned chalet, swim or read wildlife magazines in our lapa. Lunch will be served at 13h30. At 15h30, we enjoy a sundowner game drive and return for dinner and overnight at Tremisana.

Day 3

Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park

Drive to Kruger Park in your custom-built open-sided game viewer. You will view the game without intervening glass windows and also listen to and smell the denizens of the bush. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi regions have open plains that attract large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope, which, in turn, attract many predators. In fact, this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.

Day 4

Transfer to Hluhluwe

Transfer to Hluhluwe

After an early breakfast, we depart by 07h30 for a drive from Tremisana to Hluhluwe in northern Kwa-Zulu Natal. You will enjoy some excellent scenic drives. Dinner and overnight are at the newly refurbished Pumusa Bush Camp, built in a luxuriant sand forest.

Day 5

Hluhluwe Game Reserve

Hluhluwe Game Reserve

After breakfast, drive to the nearby Hluhluwe Game Reserve for a full day of game viewing. We are practically guaranteed to see rhinos (that have not been dehorned) in Hluhluwe and the neighbouring Imfolozi Game Reserve. These reserves are the oldest in SA (proclaimed in 1898) and were responsible for saving the white rhino from extinction. Lunch will be enjoyed at an open picnic spot or hide. Dinner and overnight will be at Pumusa.

Isimangaliso Wetland Park and River Cruise

Isimangaliso Wetland Park and River Cruise

After breakfast, drive to the world-famous St Lucia. Visit the Isimangaliso Wetland Park, which was listed in 1999 as SA’s very first World Heritage Site. It contains 3 major lake systems, 8 interlinking ecosystems, 700-year-old fishing traditions, most of SA’s swamp forests and Africa’s largest estuarine system! At St Lucia, there is time for a swim in the warm Indian Ocean. After a picnic lunch, we explore this amazingly quaint subtropical village. We drive to the Sunset Jetty, board our River Cruiser and search the estuary for hippo, crocodile and other wildlife species. Dinner and overnight will be at Pumusa.

Morning Nature Walk and Transfer to Airport

We go on an early morning nature walk hoping to see special birds endemic to this area, such as the crowned hornbill, trumpeter hornbill, crested guineafowl, Livingstone’s touraco and Narina trogon. If you are lucky, you will see rare antelope such as red duiker and suni, which are not found in the Kruger National Park.

We will drive to King Shaka International Airport near Durban, arriving around 11h00. For tourists wishing to return to Johannesburg, we drive to Dullstroom, from where you take our shuttle vehicle.
