On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or pick up at your Nairobi Hotel and proceed north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates, descending from the Laikipia Plateau to Kenya’s arid north. Proceed to your camp in Samburu National Reserve for check in and lunch. In the afternoon enjoy your first game drive in this reserve which is well known for spectacular scenery and wildlife not found in the south: Reticulated Giraffe, the rare Grevy’s Zebra with its large furry ears, the gerenuk Antelope standing on its hind legs to feed and Somali Ostriches with their distinctive blue legs. Pre-breakfast and afternoon game drives. You may see Elephants, Cheetah, Leopard, Eland, Oryx, Impala, Dikdik, Waterbuck and a variety of birds which are abundant with 365 species recorded, one for every day of the year. This lava plain includes a varied landscape of red dirt, thorn scrub, broken volcanic rock, dried riverbeds, steep hills and rocky outcroppings. Following the river’s curves, a forest of Doum Palms, Acacia and tamarind is a magical contrast of cool green. Other areas of the Reserve include the Ewaso Nyiro River where crocodiles sun bath themselves on the banks. Meals and Overnight at Lodge.

Depart after breakfast and drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is famous for not only being the home of the last standing 2 Northern White rhinos in the world, but also for its healthy population of both black and white rhino, all the big cats and the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. You will arrive in time for lunch and have a few hours at leisure before disembarking for the evening game drive. Meals and Overnight at the camp.
