Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at the airport, a representative from Ro Scavenger Safaris will greet you and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may have the chance to unwind and get ready for an unforgettable adventure! Arusha is a vibrant hub in northern Tanzania, and most travelers experience this bustling city at some point during their safari journey.

Today, you'll journey to Tarangire National Park, famously known as the land of elephants. Expect to encounter a large number of these majestic creatures throughout the park. Tarangire is also an excellent place to observe big cats, such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, along with a variety of herbivores. During the game drive, you'll have the chance to get up close to these incredible animals. At midday, you’ll break for lunch at the Tarangire River picnic spot, where playful monkeys might attempt to steal a bite of your meal.

Lake Manyara is often overlooked as one of the gems of Tanzania's northern safari circuit. Though relatively small in size (being one of Africa's narrowest parks), its landscapes are dramatic, with the towering Rift Valley escarpment forming a stunning backdrop to the lake. The park's dense evergreen forest is home to abundant wildlife, including baboons and elephants, and you might even spot the renowned tree-climbing lions. The combination of lake, forest, and rocky cliffs also makes it a haven for birdwatchers—be sure to bring your binoculars!

Experience firsthand why countless safari enthusiasts are captivated by the Serengeti. Be on the lookout for majestic big cats, elephants, and a wide variety of wildlife. It's not uncommon to spot giraffes, impalas, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and numerous bird species even before breakfast. Observing these animals in their natural habitat, whether it's a thrilling chase, a massive herd, or a mother shielding her offspring, creates memories that last a lifetime. The Serengeti’s signature acacia trees, golden plains, and towering kopjes (rocky outcrops) provide a breathtaking backdrop to this extraordinary adventure.

Day 5

Begin your day with a warm cup of tea or coffee before setting off with a packed breakfast. The early hours offer the best chance to spot predators, as they are most active during the night and at dawn. Head out from central Serengeti towards the eastern regions in search of cheetahs, lions resting on rocky outcrops, and other wildlife. Enjoy the game drive through the late morning, then either return to your lodge for a hot lunch or continue exploring with a packed meal. The day wraps up with a scenic drive back to your camp, where you'll have more opportunities to spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, and hyenas along the way.

Day 6

After breakfast, your safari guide will escort you down into the crater for a day of wildlife viewing. With a constant supply of water and vegetation throughout the year, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to an array of animals, such as wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos, and majestic African elephants. Predators are also abundant here, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard. You will also visit Lake Magadi, a large, shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern part of the crater, which attracts flamingos, hippos, and various water birds. Enjoy a brief walking safari around the hippo pool at Engutoku Tok before heading off for lunch.

Following breakfast, you’ll set off on a two-hour drive to Materuni Village, located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided hike to the renowned Materuni Waterfalls. Afterward, savor a traditional local buffet lunch and gain insight into the culture and heritage of the Chagga people, long-time inhabitants of the Kilimanjaro region. You’ll then participate in an engaging coffee-making demonstration before continuing your journey with a transfer to either the airport or Arusha for drop-off.
