The park is full of wildlife, ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and, of course, elephants. It is also known as the "Elephant Paradise". Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale. It is both compact (this is one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s
western boundary).
The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest, and look out for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa. You will have a picnic lunch in the park, and later, you will drive back to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will have a full-day game drive in Central Serengeti. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local language, "endless plains". The park has 6,900 sq miles (18,000 sq km), and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon, defying your senses and perception of distances.
It is the home of the great migration and more than 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes, including the abundant impalas and Thomson's gazelles. As for big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Smaller animals like foxes, mongooses, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, rock hyraxes, and African hares, together with more than 500 species of birds, also inhabit this park.
