Arusha to Serengeti South the Ndutu Area

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and transferred to Arusha airport for a short 40-minute flight to Serengeti North, the Ndutu Area. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver guide for a full-day game drive in Ndutu to view the migration. We will drive to the camp in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Ndutu is in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. Like most other Rift Lakes, Lake Ndutu is alkaline; however, the water is still drinkable and used by many local wildlife. From December to April, most of the wildebeest migration is usually found on the short-grassy plains. The area is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds, and resident game.

Early in the morning, enjoy a hot air balloon safari. Then, return to the camp for breakfast, followed by an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti South, Ndutu Area. In the evening, head back to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Serengeti is well known for its healthy resident wildlife population, particularly the Big Five, which is named for the five most prized trophies hunters have taken in the past. The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem! Leopards, on the other hand, are reclusive but commonly seen around Serengeti.
