Day 1

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Entebbe, embarking on a scenic journey towards the southwestern region of Uganda. The drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes approximately 8-9 hours, passing through Uganda’s beautiful countryside. Along the way, you'll enjoy stunning views of terraced hills, rolling plains, and traditional villages.

There will be a stop at the Equator for a photo opportunity and to stretch your legs, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, the journey continues through winding roads that lead into the lush forests of Bwindi. Upon arrival in the late afternoon or early evening, you’ll check into your lodge nestled in the forest, where you can relax and prepare for the thrilling gorilla trekking experience the next day. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, you'll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from experienced park rangers who will share important guidelines on how to approach and interact with the gorillas.

With your trekking group, you’ll set off into the dense forest, guided by skilled trackers who lead the way through winding trails, steep slopes, and thick vegetation. The duration of the trek can vary from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family you’re tracking. As you walk through the forest, you'll have the opportunity to spot other wildlife, such as birds, monkeys, and unique plant species.

When you finally encounter the mountain gorillas, it is an awe-inspiring experience. You’ll spend up to one hour observing these gentle giants up close as they go about their daily lives—feeding, playing, and caring for their young. This magical hour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat.

Day 3

Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Kibale National Park, renowned for its rich biodiversity and large population of chimpanzees. The drive takes approximately 6 to 7 hours, offering a scenic route through Uganda’s picturesque landscapes, including rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural villages.

There will be a stop along the way for lunch at a local restaurant or lodge, where you can relax and enjoy a delicious meal before continuing your journey. As you drive towards Kibale, keep an eye out for spectacular views of the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the "Mountains of the Moon."

Upon arrival in the late afternoon, you’ll check into your lodge near Kibale National Park, where you can unwind and prepare for the chimpanzee tracking adventure the following day. In the evening, you’ll enjoy dinner at the lodge while soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding forest.

Day 4

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from experienced rangers, who will share important information about the trek and the chimpanzee groups.

With your guide, you'll embark on a trek into the lush forests of Kibale, searching for the lively and intelligent chimpanzees. The trek usually lasts 2-4 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located. Once you find them, you’ll spend up to one hour observing these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat, watching as they play, forage, and interact with each other.

After the trek, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, for those interested, there’s an optional visit to the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a community-run project known for its rich biodiversity. Here, you can enjoy a guided nature walk, where you'll have the chance to spot various bird species, including the Great Blue Turaco, and other wildlife such as monkeys, sitatunga, and butterflies.

Day 5

On your final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge while soaking in the serene surroundings of Kibale National Park. After breakfast, you’ll begin your drive back to Entebbe, which takes approximately 5 to 6 hours.

As you travel, take in the beautiful Ugandan landscape one last time, with opportunities to spot local wildlife and picturesque villages along the route. Depending on your schedule, you can stop for lunch at a local restaurant or café en route, providing a chance to savor more of Uganda’s delicious cuisine.

Upon arrival in Entebbe, you may have some time for last-minute shopping for crafts and souvenirs at local markets or exploring any remaining sights, such as the beautiful Entebbe Botanical Gardens.
