Day 3

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will be guided through the lush rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes by Uganda Wildlife Authority experts in search of a mountain gorilla family. The trek can be challenging, but the reward of seeing these magnificent creatures up close will make it all worth it. Trekking can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the group you encounter.

After the trek, enjoy a packed lunch before driving through terraced hills to the serene Lake Bunyonyi. Here, you can unwind with optional activities such as canoeing, swimming, and hiking on island trails. Immerse yourself in the local culture with community walks and birdwatching, listening to the melodic songs of exotic bird species. End your day with a delicious dinner and relaxing overnight stay at Heritage lodge, Bunyonyi, surrounded by the natural beauty of the lake.

Afterwards, cross the border into Rwanda and make your way to Kigali city, reflecting on the incredible experience of encountering the rare mountain apes. Stop for a delicious lunch along the way before arriving in Kigali late in the evening.
