Tarangire National Park is the sixth-largest national park in Tanzania and is very beautiful. It is home to many herds of elephants, baobab trees and tree-climbing African pythons. During the Dry season, the concentration of animals around the Tarangire River is almost as diverse and reliable as in the Ngorongoro Crater. January to April is the season when the wildebeest calves, with upwards of half a million young being born. Large predators including lion, cheetah, and hyena, are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey. Many smaller animals, such as rock hyrax, bat-eared fox, mongoose, honey badger, jackal, monkey, baboon, and African hare, can also be found with nearly 500 species of birds.
