Golden monkey tracking and trasnsfer to bwindi uganda

Start your first morning early with a trip to track golden monkeys. These primates are beautiful, endangered, and more agile than mountain gorillas. They live in bamboo thickets on the lower slopes of the mountains. Tracking them acclimatizes you perfectly to the slight altitude. After this exciting experience, head higher to visit the gorillas, marking your last views of the park's environs. Next, drive to Uganda, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Spend a day tracking endangered mountain gorillas, which share 97.7% of our DNA. You'll spend up to an hour among them. Witness mothers keeping their infants close as they knuckle-walk on three limbs. Watch as toddlers scamper around, occasionally getting reined in by an attentive father whose job is to protect his family. When you look into the eyes of a mountain gorilla, there is no mistaking the bond that exists between primates and humans—and no escaping the poignant reminder that these creatures lie on the brink of extinction.

Day 7

Lake Mburo National Park - Entebbe

Lake Mburo National Park - Entebbe

We will start the day with a horseback riding safari, which is an incredible way to experience the wildlife of Lake Mburo. Without the noise of motor engines, you can hear more and truly feel like a part of nature. Riding a horse allows you to encounter the more timid animals that might be scared off by vehicles. You will almost always see a variety of animals such as warthog, topi, impala, duiker, bushbuck, waterbuck, and zebra. If you're lucky, you may even spot eland and buffalo, or, in an even more rare and exciting sighting, leopards. The time of year and weather can affect the number and variety of animals you see, as they graze where the grass is most nutritious. Observing animals from horseback is peaceful and offers a completely different experience from a game drive; zebras might even come closer to check out their strange, stripe-less relatives. After the horseback riding safari, return to the lodge for breakfast. This will be followed by a transfer to Entebbe Airport.
