Maun to Khwai Concession

On arrival at Maun International Airport you will be met by your safari guide for a road transfer to Khwai Concession.

Arrive at your campsite in Khwai. Your campsite will be ready with tents erected. Time to relax and enjoy nature in its purest form without any of the distractions of modern day living.

Lunch will be served, followed by a game drive as we explore this picturesque destination nestled between the iconic Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, and Chobe National Park. Khwai Concession has an immense diversity of flora - from riverine woodland to open savannah, and mopane scrub to leadwood thickets. With this diversity of habitat comes endless exploration opportunities, as well as a huge variety and abundance of wildlife. Furthermore, no fences are separating Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park from the Khwai River – allowing animal migrations without any obstacles.

Khwai Concession

Following an early breakfast, we will leave camp in search for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for. You will also experience a 2½-hour mokoro trip, gliding through a maze of channels and lagoons in a dug-out canoe.

You’ll see the stunningly colourful lilac-breasted roller and numerous other species including both saddle-billed and marabou storks. You’ll also see raptors like the African hawk-eagle and the gabar goshawk, and hornbills such as the southern yellow-billed and African grey.

Being a private concession, outside of the national park boundaries, allows us to conduct night game drives. We will therefore continue our afternoon game drive into the early hours of the evening (approx. 2 hours). The cover of darkness presents the opportunity to encounter rarely seen animals such as aardvark, pangolin, honey badger, porcupine, small and large spotted genet, springhare, as well as a variety of nocturnal birds and elusive predators like leopard.

Khwai Concession to Maun and end of safari

Today marks the end of your safari. Shortly after breakfast we head back to Maun, arriving back at Maun International Airport in time to check in for your flight.
