You will be picked up from your Arusha resort after breakfast and driven to the Marangu gate. Your journey can start as soon as the required paperwork is finished, and you'll soon be trekking into the thick rainforest. As you make your way to the Mandara Hut, you might be able to see some primates in addition to the stunning foliage. Your guide can drive you to the Maundi Crater, where you can take in the stunning panorama of the interior of Kenya, after you've had some much-needed rest.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
We have an early breakfast to start the day. Shortly after you have left Mandara Hut, you will cross the timberline and then enter the heath and moor zone. It will take about 4 to 6 hours for the 3700-meter-high Horombo Hut to become visible. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo, Mawenzi, and the expansive Masai steppe plain from the hut.

Acclimatization Trek to Zebra Rock, Back to Horombo Hut
This is the day for acclimatisation. This increases your chances of reaching the summit and should not be undervalued. A leisurely 4-hour walk leads to the Zebra Rocks (4020m) following a leisurely breakfast. The unique black and white stripes give the rock structure its name. You'll find a hot meal waiting for you when you get back to Horombo Hut. Afternoon is yours to unwind and get your strength back for the walk the next day.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Today’s stage is long and tough. The well-built trail passes the “Last Water Point” which is followed by the so-called “saddle.” This nearly vegetation-less plateau joins the main summit Kibo with Mawenzi. Today’s destination is the Kibo Hut which is usually reached in about 5 – 6 hours. Here, you will enjoy an early evening meal followed by an early night, as the night will be short.

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and Down to Horombo Hut
"The big day"—the summit stage—is today. It will be around midnight when you start your last, arduous ascent. After passing the Hans Meyer Cave at 5220 meters, the ascent increases gradually. You will arrive to Gillman's Point (5681m), the crater rim of Kilimanjaro, at daybreak, when the light will begin to gradually warm the ground. After another hour or two of hiking, you will have forgotten the night's chill and reach Uhuru Peak, which is located at an elevation of 5895 meters. After arriving back at Kibo Hut, you will be treated to a hot supper and given a one to two hour respite before making your way back down to Horombo Hut.

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
The final section travels over moorzone and heath to the Mandara Hut (2700m), where a hot meal is served. After a total of six hours of walking, you will soon pass the tropical rainforest once more and arrive back at the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1860m). Following your farewell to your mountain guides, you will have a brief transfer back to Arusha. After that, you can enjoy your achievement of reaching Kilimanjaro's summit and have a warm, soothing shower.
