4-Day Trekking Meru Mountain

Arusha to Momella Gate 1500 m – Miriakamba Hut 2500

The duration of the walk is between five to seven hours. There is a forest type of vegetation.

The trip will start just after breakfast. You will be picked up by your guide and driven to the Ngongongare Gate. Your guide will finish all paperwork at the gate and then drive you through Arusha National Park, stopping along the way to see wildlife. Make your final check of the porters and luggage at Momella Gate.

After that, a three-day walk up Mount Meru will start at a slow and even pace. It's similar to going on a walking safari on the first day, where you might come across buffalo, zebras, waterbucks, and reticulated giraffes. You will be escorted to the camp by an armed ranger because the walk is inside the park.

After that, a gentle and steady three-day walk up Mount Meru will commence. You might come across reticulated giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, and buffaloes on the first day, which is similar to going on a walking safari.

Miriakamba - Saddle Hut

4 to 5 hiking hours.

There is a forest zone kind of vegetation.

After breakfast, you will resume your ascent of Mount Meru by crossing a difficult trail into the forest area, where you will get to see a variety of wildlife. After a satisfying lunch (your pace will decide this), you'll reach Saddle Hut in the alpine desert zone.

After eating lunch and relaxing, you could go on a stroll to Little Meru (3,820 m) to acclimatise yourself. There are fantastic views of Mount Meru and the surroundings from this lovely trek. It gets you ready to conquer Meru Mountain's main summit in the evening.

This day, dinner will be served early to give you time to rest before the midnight summit attempt. You plan on going to bed as early as possible—possibly at 7:00 p.m.

Saddle Hut - Summit

Elevation change: 3,560 meters (11,680 feet) to 4,966 meters (14,980 feet).
Rise to 1,006 meters, down to 3,560 meters (11,680 feet).

1,006 meters of lost altitude.

Enjoy a cup of tea as you wake up in the middle of the night and start your climb up the Big Meru mountain. Return to Saddle Hut for a hearty supper after navigating challenging paths to the summit. Sleep is scheduled for the remainder of the day. Spend the day at Saddle Hut, including lunch and dinner.

Saddle Hut - Momella Gate

The elevation changed from 3,560 meters/11,680 feet to 1,597 meters/5,240 feet.
1,963 meters of lost altitude.

After leaving Saddle Hut, take the first hut, Miriakamba, to Momella Gate. You'll be transported to either Moshi or Arusha from there.

Bed and breakfast accommodations will be provided for your overnight stay at the 4-star Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel. Think back on your amazing Mount Meru tour and relax before embarking on your next adventure, be it a safari or a leisurely trip to Zanzibar.
