Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest – Visit to the Batwa Pygmies
Following an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park officials. They will brief you on the rules to follow during gorilla tracking. You will trek through the steep, densely forested hills in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The trek will take 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.
Once located, you will be allowed to spend an hour with them taking photos and observing how they feed, play, or associate with one another. Some may come close to you but remember to remain calm as you follow instructions from the park officials. Tracking in the Bwindi Forest can be steep and requires stamina as some gorilla families can be more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially if it is wet and muddy.
