After encountering the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for an hour, gazing into their big, round eyes. Gorilla trekking requires a reasonable degree of fitness. You need walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen and a hat.

Today, after breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by your safari guide and leave for Akagera National Park. The journey takes about 2.5 hours, depending on the stops along the way. The beautiful unwinding landscape en route to the park makes it easy to ask the guide for stopovers to capture some photos.

On arrival at the park, we will register at the park reception and then proceed to our accommodation with a short game drive. We will check in and have lunch. After lunch, we head out for an afternoon game drive in the park to search for small and big animals. We will look for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, topis, and much more.

At 4:30 pm, we will head out for a scenic sunset boat trip on Lake Ihema. This is a great opportunity to spot hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores and encounter buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later, we will return to the lodge for dinner and an evening stay.
