After an early breakfast preferably in the morning from Entebbe to avoid the traffic jam, you'll visit Sezibwa Falls on the way to Mabira
Your first stopover will be at Sezibwa Falls —a Buganda cultural site rich with birds, folktales, and great scenery. This is a great Uganda birding spot for bird lovers, a cultural site with folk stories and traditional healers, and lastly, the waterfalls that equally have a story as to how they got to be named. On arrival, you'll be met by a resident tour guide who will lead you explaining the different sites and legends surrounding the falls and the river.
Mabira forest is the largest rainforest nearest to Kampala city. You will drive to the Eco tourism center to take on one of the many forest trails where you'll take a hike through the forest. You will meet our local site guide who will lead you on this excursion.

Day 2

You'll depart Jinja early morning taking a panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle. You'll stop over at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Opened up in 1998, the Rhino Fund aims to reintroduce black and white rhinos into Uganda’s protected areas as well as educate the local communities on endangered rhinos, poaching, and environmental conservation. The rhino trek takes 1-2 hours and you will get an opportunity of viewing them at close quarters kob. You'll have a lunch stop in Masindi and continue to the top of the falls. You'll check in for dinner and an overnight stay at the accommodation.

You'll have an early morning game drive to search for giraffes, lions, heartbeats, elephants, cape buffalos, and many other mammals. Birds include the Black-Chested Snake Eagle, Blue Napped Mousebirds, the Secretary bird, Swallow Tailed Bee-eaters, and the Silver Headed Agama. After lunch, you'll enjoy a boat ride on the placid Victoria Nile to the foot of the magnificent Murchison Falls where the Nile plunges through a narrow crevice and over a 40 metre drop. En route, you may see the Nile crocodile, pools of hippos, waterbucks, and a variety of bird species. You'll disembark from your boat and take a 45-minute hike to the gorge where the river explodes into several cascades to form the falls.

After breakfast, you'll transfer to Kibale Forest, this fascinating drive takes you through papyrus swamps and thick jungle towards the Kibale Forest which is neatly tucked sat the floor of the Ruwenzori Mountains. You'll take a scenic drive to Fort Portal Town before checking in to your accommodation.

Early morning walks in Kibale Forest for a chimp habituation experience. You'll watch the delightful apes as they squabble and play in trees. After lunch, you'll go for a 2-3 hour optional nature walk in Bigodi Swamp a home of 200 bird species including the Papyrus Gonolek and the Great Blue Turaco. The swamp has also got 8 primate species and an abundance of butterflies. You'll get a chance to visit the Bigodi women’s project located at the wetland sanctuary office in the Bigodi trading center. The group sells mats, bags, and jewelry and 10% of all sales from crafts contribute to community development over the years, the income has been funded by Bigodi Primary School and supported orphans, widows, the disabled, and other disadvantaged people in the community.

After breakfast in the mid-morning tour of the crater lakes and Amabera caves, Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru Caves which are ancient historical features that locals believe to be the breasts of Nnyinamwiru— the daughter of Bukuku a self-enthroned King of Bachwezi. Nyinamwiru had been denied a chance to breastfeed her son Ndahura as her father had been told that the offspring of Nyinamwiru would take over his throne. Though Bukuku worked tooth and nail to prevent the overthrow, it was destined to happen and Ndahura became a famous Muchwezi ruler who is credited with expanding the Chwezi Empire to the areas in northern Tanzania, Rwanda, and east of DR Congo while using Uganda as the center.

Located in western Uganda, bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, Semuliki National Park is one of Uganda’s less-visited national parks. It includes East Africa’s only lowland tropical forest that is recognized for its rich birdlife. The park is known for the two Sempaya hot springs, one male called Bintente and one female called Nyasimbi. The idea that they are male and female comes from the Bamaga clan’s folklore; they believe that their female ancestors live under Nyasimbi and their male ancestors under Bintente.
The female spring is dominated by a geyser that sprays water to a height of up to 2 meters and the male spring is a pool of hot water. The walk to the springs took them through beautiful nature. The temperature of the water in both springs reaches 100 degrees Celsius and it is well known that you can cook food in the springs. You will also test this and successfully boil eggs in the water.

This morning, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, be prepared for some incredible scenery along the way. This park protects 200km of Rift Valley Savanna, interspersed with patches of forest and crater lakes. Lunch will be served at your respective lodge, have a relaxation, and then drive to Kasenyi for an evening game drive in search of wild animals which include elephants, buffalos, different species of antelopes, and sometimes the wild big cats like lions and leopards among others.

You'll get up ready for a 6:30 am morning game drive. The park’s diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forests, rivers, swamps, lakes, and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. You'll look out for buffaloes, lions, elephants, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. You'll return to your accommodation for a late breakfast. After lunch, you'll go for the afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is a home to a variety of water birds and on a hot day, hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and waterbucks can be sighted as they bathe and drink water at the water edge. Crocodiles are occasionally sighted along the channel banks.

In the morning, you'll transfer to the Ishasha Sector which is also part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. On your arrival at Ishasha, you will go for the game drive. Ishasha sector is well known as the most alluring region for game drives in Uganda for the tree-climbing lions.

After morning breakfast, you will go for a brief morning game drive in the Ishasha sector. Later, you'll return to the lodge for launch. Later in the afternoon, your driver-guide will drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will reach in the evening in good time for dinner as you prepare next day's gorilla trekking.

Day 12

You'll enter the forest at dawn and enjoy the beauty and freshness of the forest, home to more than half of the world’s mountain gorillas. After a short briefing by the guides, you'll proceed through the dense bush to trek for these endangered animals depending on where they built their nest the previous night. For conservation purposes, the time allowed with the Gorillas is 1 hour. You'll observe the gentle giants as they feed and play. If you have a free afternoon, you'll go for a 3-hour village walk. Take note of the livelihoods of the local communities, and visit a traditional herbalist, blacksmith, and local brewery to see how beer is brewed using local methods. You'll enjoy the traditional dances offered by the community. If you have time, you can visit Bwindi Hospital and see how you can help the local community. You'll retire to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

This morning, you will participate in another adventure tracking the “Little Primates” of the Virungas, the Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus Kandti), now listed by the IUCN as endangered because of their small numbers. Today, you'll wake up to a leisurely breakfast and prepare for yet another adventure around the Kisoro area as you visit these indigenous natives the Batwa. The Batwa are Uganda’s marginalized people and are viewed with derision by most of the Ugandan Nationals. The Batwa have lived their lives to current generations by hunting and gathering in the forest. The visit to the Batwa invariably involves songs and a dance demonstration. Once the music begins, you can’t help but notice that they project genuine pride in themselves. You will then return to the lodge for lunch and also relax. You'll spend your evening at leisure.

Hiking Mount Sabinyo volcano is done in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park located in Kisoro district western Uganda on the border of DR-Congo and Rwanda. You will hike to the third peak. You will be standing in three countries, and hiking Mt Sabinyo takes you through different vegetation. On a clear day, you will have a beautiful view of different towns and villages in Rwanda and DR-Congo.
Mount Sabinyo is the most difficult mountain to climb so one must be prepared physically and I must say Mt Sabinyo is worth adventurous volcano hiking.

After breakfast in mid-morning, you'll transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale which is the second deepest lake in Africa and a great place for birds, the sweet sounds of the birds will welcome you, the word Bunyonyi means small birds in the local language. Upon your arrival, you will go for a canoe/boat ride on the lake where you can see various birds, and communities’ landforms such as the islands, over 29 islands are in this lake. Take as many photos as you want. You'll have dinner and an overnight stay.

The drive takes you through different traditional villages. You'll enjoy the drive by the rolling plains of Ankole with another stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Afterward, you'll continue to Lake Mburo National Park. You'll arrive in time for an afternoon boat ride and late evening game drive.

This is a guided walk by the park rangers, this guided walk will lead you to the salt lick where you will find many animals that are attracted to the salty rocks. The walks on the western side of this lake usually begin at 7:00 am and will take 2 hours. You will meet many animals including the hyenas that are returning to their dens as well as the hippos coming from the lake. The hike that goes through the woodland gives you a chance to see the forest birds and mammals and the hike to the top of the hill will reward you with a spectacular view of the other lakes around this park. In the afternoon, you'll go for an evening game drive.

Get up ready for an early morning game drive. The park’s diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forests, rivers, swamps, lakes, and a home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Look out for buffaloes, lions, elephants, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. You'll return to the lodge for a late breakfast and transfer to Entebbe arriving late in the afternoon.

You'll have a relaxed morning and afterward join the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre’s (UWEC) professional staff as they guide you through the daily activities required in caring for the center’s many animals. Formed in 1994 as a trust to transform the neglected Entebbe Zoo, UWEC is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife, educating Ugandans about the benefits of conserving the country’s biodiversity and working with local and international partners to initiate conservation activities throughout Uganda’s national parks and protected areas. It is said (including in the Bradt Guide —Uganda) that one of the original Tarzan movies was made here. Even if not, it is a great place to spend a half or full day —you will love the flowers, trees, plants, birds, and monkeys found here and more of nature to enjoy at Entebbe Botanical.
