Day 1

A Guide from Kisoro Tours Uganda will pick you up in the morning from the airport or your hotel in Kigali. After briefing you about the tour, you will have a tour of Kigali city where you will visit the city markets, the Kigali genocide museum, the former presidential palace, a few art shops and other landmarks. After completing the city tour, you will leave for Akagera National Park. The journey to Akagera National Park takes between 2 to 3 hours.
Before reaching the park, you will have a brief stop at the Nyakarambi village to learn about the cow dung paintings by the Kakira women's cooperative. Their unique style of decorating houses using cow dung has intrigued many a visitor since it was started by Prince Kakira. The cow dung is first dried and then mixed with different colours from natural material (including plants). The end product is a mixture of red and white paintings that are very eye-catching.

Day 2

Wake up early and take your breakfast as you wait for the Guide/Driver to pick you up. This day is all about game drives. Our Guide will pick up an experienced park Guide to move with you and take you to the best places for game drives. You will go to different parts of the park while exploring the park's landscape including woodland forest, savanna plains, riverine forests and wetlands. During the morning game drive, watch out for hippos, Impala, warthogs, Topi, Zebras, spotted hyenas, giraffes, buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants and birds. The park Guide will play an important role in helping locate the lions, Rhinos and other elusive creatures.
Lunch will be a picnic in the open Savannah plains to allow you to experience the unique feeling of dining out in the African wild. After lunch, the driver will take you back to your hotel where you can relax and take a swim in the hotel swimming pool.

Have a relaxed morning as you prepare for an afternoon boat cruise at Lake Ihema. The boat trip provides opportunities to spot crocodiles, hippos and other animals coming to bathe or drink from the lake. Look out for the elusive Sitatunga (swamp antelope) and waterbucks, later in the evening go for Rwanda's cultural experience where you will get a chance to take part in activities like traditional dance and cooking local food among other cultural activities.

After breakfast prepare for one last game drive in the park just in case you didn’t see any of the animals. Our Guide/Driver will meet with the park guide and take you to another section of the park for yet more wildlife encounters. After starting the journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the western province.

Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest with your backpack. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3-5 hours depending on their location. On finding them, spend an hour taking pictures and videos. Connect to visit Nyungwe’s biggest waterfalls on the Isumo trail. This is one of the most refreshing experiences with sights of different birds and some primates. The walk is approximately 4 hours walking up and down the Nyungwe forest. Thereafter, return to your hotel for relaxation and good memories. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.

After breakfast, connect for a canopy walk. You will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk swing bridge 50 meters in length suspended from large trees; you will see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving below you. After that, drive to Volcanoes National Park, on our way, visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province,
later have a stop for lunch and after continuing to Volcanoes National Park, you will arrive late in the evening at the Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Have a lovely breakfast in the morning and after proceed to the park headquarters for briefing about the gorillas and meeting the park rangers. The experience is exhilarating as you get ready to hike through the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas. Some level of physical fitness is required as you head out to track the gorillas; this is because you ought to climb the hills to catch a glance at them. The experience is tiresome but amazing when you confront the great mountain gorillas. You will see them in groups/families as they do their daily routine work, mothers feeding their young ones, playing, feeding and some resting.
After trekking in the afternoon Take a trip to Iby’iwacu village, where the villagers have convinced a group of ex-poachers to turn their back on their former lifestyle and create a traditional dance group that performs for visitors on a cultural village tour.

Finally, get face to face with the beautiful golden monkeys. You will see them play as they jump from one branch of the tree to the other; all this will be amazing and memorable for your safari. After golden monkey tracking in the afternoon, you will visit the Dian Fossey Ellen DeGeneres Campus also known as the Dian Fossey Gorilla Museum.
