Day 1

On arrival at Maun International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and transferred by open game drive vehicle to Xhaxhaba. This will be in the form of a game drive, so grab your camera as every moment is an experience waiting to be captured.

Arrive at your campsite in Xhaxhaba, in the Okavango Delta. Your campsite will be ready with tents erected. Time to relax and enjoy nature in its purest form without any of the distractions of modern day living.

The Okavango Delta offers visitors an insight into one of Africa’s truly great wildernesses. With an intricate maze of waterways and sandy islands, the Okavango should be a dream destination for anyone looking for a unique travel experience.

As the sun sets you will toast the setting sun. The dust creates an amazing blend of colours across the flat horizons, making the sunsets here truly incredible. A camp fire awaits, followed by dinner and your first night in the Delta.

Day 2

An early wake up call this morning will allow you to be out before sunrise in the hope of watching predators on the prowl. Capture the essence of the Okavango Delta on an early morning game drive, promising up-close views of unique wildlife and flourishing vegetation. Lookout for breeding herds of elephant, semi-aquatic antelopes like the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga, roan and sable antelope or giraffe and zebra on the floodplains.

In the afternoon you will embark on a guided bush walk. An unforgettable experience where guests can connect with nature in a way that is impossible from the confines of a safari vehicle. As you walk through the islands with you safari guide, you’ll learn about the unique ecosystem and the numerous wildlife that call it home.

Day 3

The early morning activity will take you out into the heart of the Delta once more where your guide will continue to share this unique place with you. There is no better way to unwind on safari than on a mokoro (dug-out canoe), gliding through a maze of channels and lagoons at a relaxed pace.

The birding is wonderland with hundreds of different species just waiting to be discovered. You’ll see the stunningly colourful lilac-breasted roller and numerous other species including both saddle-billed and marabou storks.

You will enjoy an afternoon village tour in order to meet members of the community and understand about their traditional way of life and also to ask how tourism is benefitting them. Highlights will include learning about Bayei traditions, experiencing the authentic village life, learning how to weave baskets, tasting the traditional food, including a traditional Setswana blessing with the members of the community.

Day 4

Moremi Game Reserve

Today your adventure will take you to Moremi Game Reserve, on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta. Moremi Game Reserve is one of Africa’s most beautiful conservation areas – a vast area of lily-covered wetlands, sparkling floodplains, open grassland and dappled forests.

Arrive at your campsite in Xakanaxa, one of the best locations in the Moremi, pleasantly situated overlooking a grassy plain right next to the waters of the Okavango Delta. Your campsite will be ready with tents erected. Time to relax and enjoy nature in its purest form without any of the distractions of modern day living.

Lunch will be served, followed by a game drive as we explore the surrounding wilderness. Expect to see a variety of animals including elephant, lion, leopard, hippo, zebra, antelope, and numerous bird species. Each safari location offers unique sightings, providing a diverse wildlife viewing experience.

Day 5

Moremi Game Reserve

Following an early breakfast, we will leave camp in search for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. After your morning game drive, you will return to camp for lunch and a siesta, followed by a late afternoon game drive as you continue your search for wildlife.

The range of habitats provides rich pickings for an impressive variety of resident wildlife and game viewing. You can expect to see big herds of elephant and buffalo, all manner of antelope and plains game and a huge range of bird species. All the major predators are present in healthy numbers, and the reserve is Africa’s last stronghold for the highly endangered wild dog. Crocodiles are often seen sunning themselves on sandy riverbanks while hippos and fish eagles dominate the deep lagoons.

Day 6

Khwai Concession

Rise with the African sun and head to Khwai, stopping for a bush picnic lunch en route. The Khwai River forms the boundary between Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession.

Make your way to African Excursions Guest House located in the Khwai Concession, in the north-eastern sector of the Okavango Delta and on the border of Moremi Game Reserve. You will stay in comfortable thatched chalets, complete with en suite bathrooms and a small private deck area.

Later in the afternoon you will head out into the wilderness once more. Be on the lookout for impala, zebra, lechwe, wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, elephant, lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog.

Being a private concession, outside of the national park boundaries, allows us to conduct night drives. We will therefore continue our game drive into the early hours of the evening (approx. 2 hours). The cover of darkness presents the opportunity to encounter rarely seen animals such as aardvark, pangolin, and many more.

Shortly after breakfast we head north, stopping for a bush picnic lunch en route to Kasane, through the Chobe National Park.

You will arrive in Kasane where you will be transferred to Chobe Safari Lodge on the Chobe River, just outside Chobe National Park, for your 2 night stay. Time to relax and enjoy the afternoon at leisure enjoying the serene beauty of the Chobe River. Cocktails will be served at sunset, before a delicious dinner with the sounds of the African night serenading you.

Day 8

It will be an early start this morning. Today you will explore the Chobe National Park, famous for its large herds of elephant, on a game drive. A game drive along the banks of the Chobe River is an incredible wildlife viewing experience as large numbers of wildlife are drawn to the cool waters of the river from the surrounding bush.

Return to your lodge for breakfast, followed by a late lunch before having a siesta. In the afternoon you will experience the wildlife of the Chobe on an afternoon boat cruise, leading into a sunset cruise, to experience the magic of the Chobe River. The birdlife in the area is exceptional even for those who have never been interested in birds before.

Located a mere 70 km from Kasane, Victoria Falls is an experience like no other, and the perfect add on to your visit to Chobe. Accompanied by a friendly, expert guide throughout the day, start off with a convenient collection from Kazungula Border Post and a smooth border transfer over to Victoria Falls.

Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the falls, as well as a Victoria Falls bridge tour which includes a theatrical and entertaining presentation on the history of the bridge and the men who built it. This will be followed by a 15 minute helicopter scenic flight, also known as “Flight of Angels”.

Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at a culinary gem perched on the banks of the Zambezi River known as Baines Restaurant, followed by a city tour and visit to the craft markets.

After a day filled with adventure, you will arrive back at the lodge in Kasane in time to catch a glimpse of the majestic Chobe River sunset and hear the echoing calls of African fish eagles.
