Your Uganda Tour will start very early, usually around 4:00 AM or even earlier, as Kigali is a considerable distance from Bwindi, and the trekking experience typically starts in the morning.
Travel to the Uganda Border
You'll need to travel from Kigali to the Uganda-Rwanda border. The nearest border crossing to Bwindi is usually Gatuna/Katuna. Make sure you have all the necessary travel documents (passports, visas, permits).
You should arrive at the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters, where you'll complete necessary paperwork and attend a briefing about the gorilla trekking experience. You'll also be assigned a gorilla group to visit.
The actual gorilla trekking tour experience in Bwindi can be physically demanding, as you'll be hiking through dense forest, often on steep terrain. The duration of the trek can vary, and it may take several hours to locate the gorilla group you've been assigned to.
