Day 1

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

On the first day, your guide will pick you up early from your accommodation and take you to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive. Tarangire’s diverse landscape, with its nine vegetation zones, is dotted with ancient baobab trees—the largest in Africa. The Tarangire River, which winds through the park, attracts a wealth of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and a variety of colorful birds. The park is especially famous for having Tanzania’s largest elephant population, giving you the unique opportunity to observe many elephant families interacting. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch at an observatory within the park, offering a perfect view of animals drinking from the river—perhaps even a glimpse of a lion on the hunt. After lunch, you’ll continue your game drive until late afternoon, before heading to your Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will depart from your campsite and head towards the Ngorongoro Crater entrance. From there, you will descend 600 meters (2,000 feet) to the crater floor for a morning game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world, home to approximately 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last remaining rhinos. With its year-round water supply and abundant grazing, the crater sustains a wide range of wildlife, including herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalos, elands, warthogs, hippos, and majestic African elephants. The park is also renowned for its high concentration of predators, such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch within the crater and continue your game drive in the afternoon before returning to Arusha.
