Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park

Distance: 120km, ETA: 2 hours
Wildlife Viewing Time: 6 hours
Activities: Game Drives

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha at around 07:30am and drive to Lake Manyara NP (330 Km2). The park has a massive but shallow soda lake located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos. Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the entrance gate, along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bush buck tread warily through the shadows, and out sized forest horn bills honk cacophonous in the high canopy. After game drives, drive to the Lodge for the overnight. Meal Plan: L, D.
