Depart from Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning. Enjoy a scenic drive southwest through Uganda’s highlands, passing through Mbarara and Kabale towns, with opportunities to stop and take photos of the stunning landscapes. You will have lunch from Mbarara and continue with the journey to Lake Bunyonyi.

Arrive at Lake Bunyonyi in the early afternoon. Check in to your lakeside lodge, which offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding hills. Have time to relax and soak in the serene atmosphere. Take a leisurely stroll along the lakeshore or enjoy an optional guided nature walk around the area.

Island Exploration and Cultural Experience

After breakfast, set out on a boat tour of Lake Bunyonyi, visiting some of its most famous islands. Explore Punishment Island, where unmarried pregnant women were historically abandoned, and learn about the lake’s cultural significance. Visit Kyahugye Island, which offers a nature walk and an opportunity to see wildlife such as zebras and antelopes. Return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, visit a local Bakiga community for a cultural experience. Learn about their traditional ways of life, music, and dance, and their connection to the lake. Return to the lodge for dinner.
