Volcanoes National Park

The journey is a 3 hours drive taking you through undulating and extremely hilly picturesque countryside. As you near the end of your journey, you will begin to catch glimpses of the Virungas – a chain of 9 impossibly steep and lofty volcanoes straddling the western branch of the Rift Valley from east to west.

Volcanoes National Park

Depart after breakfast to the park headquarters to register and assignment of a gorilla family group. Upon arrival at the designated trailhead with your guide and the rest of your trekking group, you will receive safety briefing and instructions on proper gorilla etiquette before setting out on the trail.

The hike can range from a leisurely stroll to a more strenuous climb, depending on the location of the gorilla family you'll be observing that day. As you make your way through the thick vegetation, the sounds of the forest envelop you - the chattering of birds, the rustling of leaves, and the occasional thunderous roar of a silverback gorilla.

Finally, you'll reach the gorillas' dwelling place, where you'll have the privilege of observing these magnificent, gentle giants in their natural habitat, witnessing their complex social interactions and familial bonds up-close in a truly awe-inspiring encounter. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.
