Here, you'll obtain climbing permits and register with the search and rescue service. Once the formalities are complete, the trek to Machame Camp (3,010m) begins. Covering 11 km over 4-6 hours, the route winds through lush rainforest, where brief showers are likely, so be prepared with your rain gear. Halfway through, enjoy a picnic lunch in the forest before continuing the ascent. As you approach camp, the gradient eases, and the forest transitions into giant heather. If the evening clouds cooperate, you might catch your first glimpse of the glaciated dome of Kibo Peak, setting the stage for the journey ahead.

Machame Camp-Shira Camp
After breakfast, you will depart Machame Camp (3,010m) and begin your trek to Shira Camp (3,845m), a journey of 4-6 hours covering 5 km. Leaving the rainforest behind, you'll be greeted by breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau. Stop at Picnic Rock, a small cliff offering excellent vistas of the plateau and Kibo Peak. The trail gradually ascends to the Shira Plateau, where you'll set up camp near Shira Cave. This spot features stunning views, including the massive volcanic cone of Kibo, the impressive rock formations, and the distant peak of Mt. Meru, often shrouded in clouds.
Upon reaching camp, enjoy a restful lunch before embarking on a brief acclimatization hike, lasting 1-2 hours with a 300m altitude gain. This hike is crucial for adjusting to the altitude. Afterward, return to camp for a hot dinner, reflecting on the day's adventures and preparing for the challenges ahead.

Shira Camp-Barranco Camp
This day involves several ascents and descents as you make your way to Barranco Camp (3,960m). Your morning begins with a gentle ascent, offering panoramic views as you leave the moorland behind and head toward Lava Tower (4,630m). Upon reaching Lava Tower, you'll take a break for lunch, allowing your body to acclimatize to the altitude for about an hour.
After lunch, you’ll descend into the stunning Barranco Valley, where towering cliffs provide shelter and expansive views of the plains below. The entire trek covers 11 km and takes approximately 6 to 8 hours. Once you arrive at Barranco Camp, you’ll be greeted by the sight of the iconic Barranco Wall, which you will tackle the next morning. Enjoy a hearty dinner, sharing stories of the day’s adventures, before settling in for a restful night under the stars.

Barranco Camp-Karanga Camp
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before tackling the Barranco Wall, a steep yet rewarding climb. It's best to leave camp as early as possible to avoid the crowds. Once over the wall, the trail undulates along the southeastern flank of Kibo, offering stunning views of the southern ice fields. The trek to Karanga Camp (4,035m) involves several ascents and descents, but rest assured, our experienced guides will maintain an optimal pace for the group. This section covers 5 km and typically takes 4 to 6 hours.
Upon reaching Karanga Camp, savor a hot lunch and take some time to rest and recharge. After a few hours of relaxation, you’ll embark on an acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp, gaining 200m in altitude. This hike is essential for helping your body adjust to the altitude before you return to camp for a hearty dinner and a restful night under the stars.

Karanga Camp-Barafu Camp
After breakfast, you’ll embark on your trek to Barafu Camp (4,640m), the crucial starting point for your summit attempt the following day. The trek covers 6 km and typically takes 4 to 6 hours. As you ascend, you'll witness breathtaking landscapes, with panoramic views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding terrain, providing a perfect backdrop for your journey.
Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, our team will have set up camp in advance, allowing you to unwind and recharge. After resting and regaining your strength, you’ll embark on a brief acclimatization hike to prepare your body for the altitude. This hike is vital for adjusting to the thinner air and enhancing your chances of a successful summit.
Afterward, return to Barafu Camp for a hearty dinner. Spend the evening resting and mentally preparing for the challenging summit attempt that awaits you later that night, as you anticipate the adventure of a lifetime.

Uhuru Camp-Millenium Camp
You will depart Barafu Camp (4,640m) around midnight, beginning your overnight trek to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). While technically straightforward, this climb presents significant challenges due to high altitude and cold temperatures. Our experienced guides will support you throughout the ascent, ensuring your safety.
Upon reaching Uhuru Peak, take a moment to celebrate your achievement and enjoy the breathtaking views from Africa's highest point. Afterward, you’ll descend back to Barafu Camp for a brief rest.
Caution is essential during the descent, as 90% of mountain injuries occur at this time. Tired from the climb, you’ll continue your journey toward Millennium Camp (3,820m). Be mindful of your footing and pace yourself, carefully navigating the loose gravel and volcanic ash as you reflect on the incredible adventure you’ve experienced.

Millenium Camp-Mweka Gate-Arusha
As you wake up, you’ll feel the relief of descending to lower altitudes and the profound satisfaction of having reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on the final leg of your descent to Mweka Gate at 1,640m. This last stretch, covering 12 km and taking 4–6 hours, is filled with vibrant scenery and a sense of accomplishment as you make your way down. Upon arrival at the gate, we’ll celebrate your achievement by presenting you with official certificates, marking your incredible feat of summiting the highest point in Africa on the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. You’ll then board the bus and be transported back to your accommodation for a well-deserved rest, carrying memories of this unforgettable adventure.
