Airport Pick-up and Drive to Bale Mountain National Park

Upon arrival at Bale Robe Airport, our professional guide will warmly welcome you. They will assist you with your luggage and briefly overview the day's itinerary. We will then embark on a scenic drive to the headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park. Here, you will learn about the park's unique biodiversity and conservation efforts.

During your excursion, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a short but enriching hike through the enchanting woodlands of the national park. This immersive experience allows you to encounter the breathtaking wildlife inhabiting this rich ecosystem, including the endemic mountain nyala, Menelik's bushbuck, the striking bohor reedbuck, and a variety of vibrant bird species.

Drive to Sanetti Plateau

Embark on an exciting journey as we depart from Robe and Goba, making our way to the breathtaking Sanetti Plateau, the largest Afroalpine area in Africa. This pristine environment provides a unique opportunity to observe the world's most endangered canid, the Ethiopian wolf, in its natural habitat while it engages in hunting behavior.

The Sanetti Plateau is not only a crucial refuge for this elusive species but also renowned for its diverse wildlife, making it the premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers in Ethiopia. As we explore the plateau, look for the abundant rodent population, particularly the remarkable giant molerat—an endemic species unique to the area and a key prey item for the Ethiopian wolf.

In addition, the skies above are filled with soaring birds of prey, including the majestic golden eagle, tawny eagle, and Verreaux's eagle, as well as the bearded vulture (lammergeier), Lanner falcon, and Augur buzzard.

Drive to Robe and Gaysay Grassland then Return to the Airport

After a scenic 35km (22 mi) drive from Dinsho, we will embark on an invigorating 2 to 3-hour trek through the stunning northern grasslands of the Bale Mountains. This area is renowned for its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems, allowing visitors to observe antelope families, including the majestic mountain nyala and the elegant bushbuck, in their natural habitat. As we trek through the lush landscapes, we will take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the diverse flora that characterize this remarkable region.

Following our wildlife excursion, we will return to Robe, where we will take a well-deserved lunch break at a local restaurant. This will allow us to savor traditional Ethiopian cuisine and relax before continuing our journey. After lunch, we will resume our drive, ensuring a comfortable and scenic transfer back to the airport, where you will be dropped off for your departure.
