Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park and Transfer to Bwindi

Set off early for an unforgettable encounter with Rwanda's lively golden monkeys.

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at 5:00 a.m., whisking you away to Volcanoes National Park for a day full of discovery. At the park headquarters, join other adventurers and meet your ranger guide for a briefing on golden monkey tracking and unique environment of Volcanoes National Park. By 8:00 a.m., head to the trailhead to begin your trek.

Once you find the golden monkeys, follow them as they skilfully pick young bamboo shoots and even forage in nearby potato fields a sight that reveals their playful personalities and adaptability. Spend a magical hour watching their feeding and social behaviours.

After this memorable experience, return to the trailhead and enjoy a scenic drive to a nearby restaurant for a well-deserved lunch. From there, we’ll cross into Uganda and continue to Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge, where you can relax and prepare for tomorrow’s thrilling gorilla trekking adventure.

Get up close with the awe-inspiring mountain gorillas in Uganda’s breathtaking Bwindi Forest.
Rise early for a 6:00 a.m. breakfast before heading to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for an orientation on gorilla trekking. Here, you’ll learn valuable insights and the essential guidelines for an unforgettable and safe gorilla encounter. Led by expert rangers, embark on a trek into the dense forest—an adventure that may last from two hours to a full day, depending on the gorillas’ location.

Once you find the gorilla family, spend a mesmerizing hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Watch them play, interact, and forage just meters away, creating memories and photos to cherish for years. After your trek, enjoy a packed lunch amid the beauty of Bwindi before beginning your scenic journey back to Kigali, where we’ll drop you off.
