Day 1

Lushoto to Lukozi

Lushoto to Lukozi

Start your hike at 8:30 am, departing Lushoto (1200 Alt) town and going to the royal village Kwembago where the first king of the Sambaa tribe lived. Then head to the Magamba tropical rainforest. Here you will visit a German trench cave as well as see black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, birds, many colorful butterflies, and Jackson chameleons. You will enjoy lunch at Magamba viewpoint and then hike to Lukozi (1600 Alt) where you will overnight at bush baby guesthouse

Day 2

Lukozi to Rangwi

Lukozi to Rangwi

Following breakfast you will start out at 9 am, heading through farms where you can see coffee and banana plantations and experience local village life. You will have great views of the rolling hills of Lushoto and have a go at making and taste-test sugarcane juice. You will hike to Rangwi sister’s convent (1700 Alt) to have dinner and overnight. This is an old German missionary. Approx. Distance: 10km.

Day 3

Rangwi to Magumba

Rangwi to Magumba

Start the day hiking through the beautiful Shagayu rainforest. Here you will be able to see the famous Usambara violet flower which was discovered in 1884 by Saint Paul. You can visit the womens pottery society to witness them making clay pots, followed by a visit to a traditional medicine man. At 6:30 pm you will arrive at Mtae viewpoint to watch the sunset (alt itude of 1900m). You will have dinner and overnight at Magumba View Cottages

Magumba Village to Lushoto

Catch an early morning bus from Mtae to Lushoto town you will enjoy your breakfast followed with the hike Enjoy to Irente viewpoint (1500 Alt) where you have wonderful views across the sisal plantations and cliff tops. From here you will head back to Lushoto town end of the tour. Approx. Distance: 6km.
