After breakfast, we will drive towards the fertile highlands where the Iraqw people grow wheat, coffee, and corn. We will pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and visit the Ngorongoro Crater, a sight of unimaginable beauty. This crater was formed 3 million years ago with the explosion of a volcano. Then, we will continue traveling on wards to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti translates to endless plains in Mara, the native language of the Maasai people. We will arrive at the park around midday. The Serengeti is the largest in Tanzania, with diverse landscapes and habitats, grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains. Depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals searching for food and water as they migrate through the area annually. After a remarkable time spent exploring the vast, endless plains of the Central Serengeti, you’ll embark on a thrilling journey southward, heading toward Ndutu, located in the heart of the Southern Serengeti. This transition is known as the “New Life and Predator Flow,” where the landscape and the rhythms of nature shift dramatically.
As you venture into Ndutu, you’ll witness one of the most awe-inspiring phenomena in the animal kingdom—the annual wildebeest migration and calving season. Here, thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles give birth to their young, filling the plains with the sights and sounds of new life. However, this surge of life also draws predators to the area, as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas move into the southern Serengeti to prey on the vulnerable newborns.
