Day 1

Nairobi to Amboseli - Approx 250km (5-hour drive)

Nairobi to Amboseli - Approx 250km (5-hour drive)

Take the Nairobi-Mombasa Road to Amboseli National Park. The morning drive traverses a typical African savannah landscape, filled with colorful Maasai ranchers grazing their cattle and local homesteads. You will arrive at the park in time for lunch and then go on the planned afternoon game-viewing drive.

You can see the many elephant herds up close in the park, which is why it's the greatest area in Africa to see them. Numerous other African creatures, including the Cape buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, spotted hyena, Maasai giraffe, zebra, and blue wildebeest, can be found in the park. There are many species of birds, both big and small. If the weather permits, Amboseli National Park is an ideal location for photography since it provides a stunning view of the picturesque snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the world's highest free-standing peak and the tallest mountain in Africa.

We'll have dinner and spend the night at the lodge.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park

Enjoy a full-day game-viewing experience in Amboseli today. Elephants are frequently seen here as they wander the plains in the morning and evening. They can be seen splashing and foraging in Ol Okenya Swamp for a large portion of the day. To take in the expansive, magnificent vista of Amboseli, we will also pause at the Observation Hill.

You can also choose to undertake the game drives in a different order so you can take advantage of the lodge's amenities. The driver-guide will be on hand to talk about your preferred daily schedule, which may include an optional (and additional) visit to a Maasai boma. Every safari is unique based on your preferences, expectations, and desires. Simply tell us how you would want to personalize your unique journey.

Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park - Approx 110km (2-hour drive)

Have an early breakfast, then check out and proceed to Tsavo West National Park. The park is commonly known as the “Land of Lava, Springs, Man-Eaters & Magical Sunsets”.

Tsavo West is a stunning, untamed wilderness, from the Shetani lava flows to the sight of 50 million gallons of crystal-clear water spilling out from the under-parched lava rock of Mzima Springs. The savannah habitat includes open grasslands, scrublands, acacia trees, belts of riverine vegetation, and rocky ridges, such as Poacher's Lookout, where visitors may observe the swarming herds on the plains below.

Tsavo West offers some of the most breathtaking game viewing in the world. The area is home to elephants, rhinos, hippopotamus, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, and a variety of plant and bird species, such as the endangered corncrake and the near-threatened Basra reed warbler.

You will arrive in time for lunch, then go on a game drive in the afternoon. Later, spend the night and dinner at the lodge.

More than 50 large creatures, including elephants, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and a variety of antelopes, call the sanctuary home, along with more than 390 different species of birds.

You will be staying at Salt Lick Safari Lodge, a popular destination for tourists. The lodge is connected by suspended walkways and has a view of a waterhole. The waterholes are floodlit at night, so you can see the many animals slake their thirst without interruption. In addition to providing breathtaking views of the sanctuary, the raised café and bar are the best places to see the wildlife.

The neighbouring Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa has a museum that displays some of the World War 1 memorabilia as part of the rich history of Taita Taveta County. Arrive in time for lunch and go on an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
