The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 49 minutes, covering a distance of 145 km. Upon arrival, meet your ranger and embark on a walking safari, a unique way to explore the park and get up close to the wildlife. Your ranger will guide you through acacia woodlands, water forests, and along the lake. You may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalos, monkeys, and birds. The drive to Tarangire takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, covering 181 km through the Maasai Steppe, a vast and arid landscape dotted with acacia trees and Maasai villages. Upon arrival at Tarangire National Park, start your safari and enjoy lunch before heading to the camp. Tarangire is known for its large herds of elephants, often seen around the Tarangire River, the park's only permanent water source. Other wildlife includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and various bird species. From Arusha to Londorossi to Shira

From Arusha to Londorossi to Shira

The journey to Cathedral Point on the Shira Plateau, at 3962m, offers a unique glimpse into Kilimanjaro’s geological history. The plateau, shaped by ancient lava flows, features ridges, moors, and diverse ecosystems, with views of the snow-capped peak, the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. Begin your day early in Arusha (6:00 am) for the 3-hour drive to Londorossi Gate. After completing necessary paperwork, take a 30-45 minute drive to Murrum Barrier to start your hike. The 2-3 hour hike to Shira Plateau ascends from 3,400m to 3,700m. For a challenge, hike 4 km to Cathedral Point, reaching 3,800m. After enjoying the views, return to Shira Camp for the night.
