3-Day Mikumi & Udzungwa from Zanzibar with Sgr Train

Zanzibar to Dar to Mikumi NP

You'll begin with a one-hour boat transfer from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam, followed by a seamless transfer to the train station for an early morning safari journey to Morogoro Town.

Upon arrival, our driver will be waiting to welcome you and transport you from Morogoro SGR Station to Mikumi National Park, arriving at approximately 09:30. After check-in, you will set out on a guided game drive through the park, offering exceptional opportunities to observe wildlife in a stunning natural setting. The morning drive will continue until a break for lunch at 13:00, after which your safari will resume, extending into the late afternoon for more wildlife experiences.

Mikumi Safari and Maasai Visit

After an breakfast in the early morning, you’ll set off for a full-day adventure through the vast wilderness of Mikumi National Park. With its sprawling savannah plains and diverse ecosystems, Mikumi is a gem for wildlife viewing, offering an extraordinary range of animals and birds to observe. As you embark on your game drive, you'll be captivated by the scenic landscape and the rich variety of animal life. The park is known for its open savannah plains, which allow you to easily spot wildlife in its natural habitat, a feature that makes Mikumi one of Tanzania's most accessible parks for spotting various species.

The day’s excitement doesn’t end with the game drive; once it concludes around 16:00, you’ll head off to experience the cultural heart of the region through a Maasai cultural tour. Guided by an experienced local, you’ll visit a Maasai village within the Mikumi area. The Maasai are one of East Africa’s most iconic ethnic groups, known for their deep connection to nature.

Udzungwa Mountain to Dar es Salaam Via SGR Train

Your day begins with an early breakfast at Camp Bastian at 06:30, setting you up for a day of exploration and adventure. By 07:00, you’ll set out for the breathtaking Sanje Waterfalls in Udzungwa Mountains National Park, home to the highest waterfalls in Tanzania.

When you reach Sanje Waterfalls, you’ll be rewarded with a truly stunning view: a 170-meter cascade tumbling down three tiers into crystal-clear plunge pools. You’ll have the chance to cool off with a swim in one of these refreshing pools, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the soothing sound of rushing water.

Following lunch at around 13:00, you’ll begin your journey back, departing from Udzungwa to Morogoro Town to catch the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train departing at 19:00. The three-hour drive from Udzungwa to Morogoro offers one last opportunity to soak in the scenic landscapes, the catching your ferry back to Zanzibar where the tour ends.
