Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up from the airport in Nairobi and depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you will check in, have lunch, and relax as you prepare for your first thrilling game drive in the Masai Mara, one of East Africa's top safari destinations. The game reserve covers 1,510 km² of wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodlands along the Mara and Talek rivers. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is classic open savannah with abundant wildlife. Returning from your first foray into the Masai Mara, you will have dinner and relax under the stars, falling asleep to the sounds of the bush.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Today you will have breakfast at the camp and then depart for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch in hand. You will search for the “Big Five” and the many other wildlife species inhabiting this vast game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic, orange-tinged sunsets worth capturing on camera. Wherever you go in the Masai Mara, you will see frequent wildlife such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next one. Later in the evening you will return to the lodge.

Masai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for the neighboring, salty Lake Nakuru National Park. In less than an hour you will arrive for check in and lunch at the resort. After lunch, you will proceed to the park gate for your afternoon game drive around the lake, which is famous for its rhinoceros sanctuary. Other wildlife include the Rothschild giraffe, African cape buffaloes, and smaller species such as the Thomson’s gazelle. This park is also a prime area to see the nocturnal leopard on a lucky day. A visit to Lake Nakuru is not complete without stopping at Baboon Cliff, where you will enjoy splendid views of the entire lake and its surroundings. At 18:00 hours, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Lake Nakuru National Park - Lake Naivasha

Today you will make your way to Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s freshwater lakes. En route you will stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you will see the effects of land faulting processes. You will arrive in Lake Naivasha in time for lunch at the resort. After lunch, the driver will assist you in meeting the boatmen who will take you for a scenic boat ride on Lake Naivasha to Crescent Island, an animal and bird sanctuary on the eastern side of the lake.

A number of mammals can be seen grazing in the surrounding lake environs, such as the Masai giraffe, zebra, dik-diks, steenbok, impala, gazelles, and at night, hippos. You will spend some time wandering around at your own pace, enjoying the peace and quiet broken only by the sounds of the island’s wild inhabitants. At 17:00 hours, you will return to where you left your driver and then drive to the resort for dinner and your overnight stay.
