Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop along the way

After an early breakfast, our guide will pick you up in a safari vehicle and drive through the northwestern region of Uganda, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind. On your way, you'll learn a lot about the countryside and fall in love with the inviting panoramic views and the horizons.

We'll drive through the memorable Luwero Triangle, known for the guerrilla war that brought the current regime (National Resistance Movement) into power in 1986. Our first stop is at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for the adventurous activity of tracking rhinos (one of the members of the Big Five) on foot. You will have an opportunity to get close to them and take photos.

You will then proceed to Masindi Town for lunch. On arrival at Murchison Falls National Park, you will visit the top of the thunderous Murchison Falls. Later, head to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3

Murchison Falls National Park experience

Murchison Falls National Park experience

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and transfer to this sprawling savannah where Africa’s well-known predators live. The morning game drive will help us catch up with the savannah’s early risers. Your guide will help you to spot elephant, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, Cape buffalo, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, hartebeest, and hyena, and on a lucky day, you will also see a leopard.

The savannah is also known for its abundant birdlife and a haven to more than 450 bird species that include the rare shoe-billed stork and cormorant. We return for lunch as we prepare for the afternoon's activities when we will go on a boat ride upstream of the calm, meandering Victoria Nile to the bottom of the gushing Murchison Falls for wildlife viewing.

Day 4

Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

We will have breakfast and then drive to the top of the falls to truly appreciate the beauty and magnificence of the Murchison Falls. From the top, we will embark on a transfer that will see us overnight at the edge of Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is quite long but incredibly scenic. We'll pass through villages, lush green countryside, and hills dotted with tea plantations that characterize this part of Uganda. The beautiful scenery will amaze you all the way. Upon arrival at the accommodation, check in and relax.

Optional: If interested, you can proceed with a crater lakes excursion. You will enjoy the beauty of the numerous small lakes surrounded by gentle hills, and the stunning views all over (extra cost of 15$). Otherwise, relax and enjoy your rest.

Have breakfast and proceed for the Bigodi Wetlands excursion. The Bigodi Wetlands boasts of an extensive array of biodiversity among which are several primates species like the black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and baboons. Bigodi is also a paradise for bird watchers. Among the major bird species within the area is the great blue turaco.

From Bigodi, we will embark on a transfer of about 2 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive early enough to have lunch, rest and then proceed for game viewing. During the game drive, look out for wild animals like reedbuck, bushbuck, kob, warthog, elephant, lion, and buffalo to mention but a few. Alternatively, you could choose to go for the breathtaking explosion crater drive in the park. Return to the accommodation and relax.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the leading Uganda savannah destinations most visited by holidaymakers from all over the world. This is where the well-known African predators live and where hundreds of ungulates graze in the open. After breakfast, go on the safari game drive to search for the members of the Big Five before they disappear into the thickets. Return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest before your afternoon activity.

You will go on a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for 1 to 2 hours. The channel is a haven for over 600 bird types, hippo, crocodile, and Cape buffalo among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Wake up early, have breakfast, and drive out to the nearby Kyambura Gorge. The forest is home to habituated chimpanzees plus other primates including baboons, monkeys, and various bird species. You will spend the early part of the day tracking chimpanzees and enjoying the ultimate experience.

Later, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with an en-route lunch, arriving in the late evening.

Day 8

Bwindi gorilla experience

Bwindi gorilla experience

Wake up and prepare your tracking gear as recommended and advised by our team. After breakfast, take your packed lunch and head to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the gorilla-trekking guidelines. Join the other gorilla trekkers in groups of about 8 people. The thick, verdant jungle is full of challenging adventures and is only for those who are physically fit. Along with the game ranger, track the gorillas through the walkable forest trails for about 2 to 4 hours until you encounter the forest giants - the mountain gorillas. Spend 1 hour interacting with them and then return to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for your gorilla-trekking experience in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

After your wonderful experience, return to the lodge for a well-deserved hot shower and lunch and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for evening relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Early in the morning after breakfast, check out of the lodge and prepare for the 5-hour drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Have a stopover in Mbarara for lunch at either the Agip Motel or the Igongo Cultural Center. Later, branch off the highway and head to the park’s entrance point.

Lake Mburo National Park is Uganda’s smallest savannah national park but with vast amenities that never fail to impress. It is conveniently located close to the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of Western Uganda.

Prepare for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo to see the waterbirds and the onshore dwellers. This is a great hotspot for the schools of hippos, buffaloes, and warthogs, and a variety of bird species. Return for dinner and overnight.
