Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, we will have another full day in the central Serengeti. The central portion of the Serengeti - known as the Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti species. As you make your way into the Seronera region, you will begin to notice the hilly and broken terrain altering into plain grasslands. In Seronera one must look out for the many lion pride that thrive in this region. The interactions and survival of these lion prides provide an excellent game-viewing experience all year round. Your morning drive to Ngorongoro Crater is also your last game drive through the Serengeti. The jewel of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the 16 x 20 km Ngorongoro Crater (UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978), about half the size of Lake Constance. Everything that has status and reputation among the wild animals of East Africa is gathered in the Ngorongoro (with the exceptional Maasai giraffes, topis, and impalas: these cannot conquer the steep crater walls), including the Big Five of African wildlife. The crater is also one of the most densely populated lion areas in Africa. Almost every visitor will see the king of the beasts. The afternoon is entirely dedicated to game viewing in the crater. Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara National Park, established in 1960, is located in the valley of the Great East African Rift Valley. It is the only Rift Valley National Park in northern Tanzania. This is famous for the lions that climb trees. The elephant population is large, but waterbuck, vervet monkey, and the black-armed diadem monkey can also be seen. The shallow soda lake is fed by streams that trickle down from the escarpment, creating a forest oasis with lush vegetation in the northern part of the park. The shores of Lake Manyara provide abundant seasonal food for flocks of shimmering pink flamingos. The tributaries of the lake are home to many other waterfowl. Hippos seek shelter from the scorching sun in the cool water. Later in the late afternoon you will be transfer to Arusha.
