Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Akagera National Park

Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where your guide will warmly welcome you. After a brief city tour exploring Kigali's vibrant streets, landmarks, and cultural sites, embark on a scenic journey to Akagera National Park (3–4 hours' drive). Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills, charming local villages, and verdant landscapes. Upon arrival at the park, check in to your lodge and enjoy a relaxing lunch.
Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure, soaking in the serene surroundings of the park. In the evening, savor a delicious dinner while taking in views of the wilderness.

Guided game drive & boat cruise in Akagera national park

After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day adventure exploring Akagera National Park. Begin with a morning game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes, from open savannahs to woodlands and wetlands. Keep an eye out for iconic wildlife such as lions, buffaloes, giraffes, and zebras, along with numerous bird species. Your guide will take you to key areas, including the park’s lakes, for chances to spot hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat.

Pause for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the park, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. In the afternoon, continue your exploration with a boat safari on Lake Ihema. This relaxing cruise offers an intimate view of aquatic wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds like pelicans and cormorants.

As the sun sets, return to the lodge, where a delicious dinner and the calming ambiance of the wilderness await you.

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, depart Akagera National Park and drive back to Kigali (approximately 2–3 hours). From Kigali, continue by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda, a journey of approximately 7–8 hours. The scenic drive takes you through breathtaking landscapes, including rolling hills, terraced farms, and charming rural villages. Along the way, enjoy the ever-changing views of Uganda’s lush countryside and appreciate the beauty of the region.

Upon arrival in Bwindi, check in to your lodge nestled amidst the forest and unwind after the long journey. If time allows, you may take a short walk in the surrounding forest to stretch your legs or visit a local community project to learn about the culture and traditions of the Batwa people.

In the evening, savor a delicious dinner at your lodge as you immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere of the park. Rest well in preparation for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the following day.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking experience. Your guide will lead you through the forest in search of one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families. The trek can take from 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you encounter them, you’ll have an hour to observe and photograph these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, drive back to Kigali (approximately 4-5 hours) for your flight or onward journey.
