The transfer from Kigali to the park is a picturesque drive of approximately 2-3 hours, showcasing Rwanda's iconic "Land of a Thousand Hills." As you depart Kigali, the journey takes you through the vibrant Rwandan countryside, characterized by lush green hills, terraced farms, and bustling villages. The winding roads gradually ascend as you approach Musanze, the bustling gateway town to Volcanoes National Park. En route, marvel at the stunning views of the majestic Virunga Volcanoes, which create a breathtaking backdrop and a sense of anticipation for the adventures ahead. Upon arrival in Kinigi, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, a community of reformed poachers turned conservationists. Today we will embark on an unforgettable golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. Early in the morning, your guide will lead you to the park headquarters, where you’ll receive a safety briefing and what to expect. You’ll then begin your trek through the lush bamboo forests, home to the playful and endangered golden monkeys. This experience offers an up-close encounter with these charming primates, as they leap through the trees and forage on the forest floor.
After the trek, we will begin our journey to Bwindi National Park. The scenic drive takes approximately 4-5 hours through picturesque Rwandan and Ugandan landscapes, depending on border crossing times. Upon crossing into Uganda, the road gradually ascends into the rugged terrain surrounding Bwindi, where you’ll arrive in the late afternoon. Check into your lodge and relax, readying yourself for the gorilla trekking adventure that awaits the next day.

The experience of spending an hour with these gentle giants in their natural habitat is unforgettable, as you observe their behaviors and interactions.
After the trek, enjoy lunch at your lodge before heading to Rushaga Village. After your immersive experience in Bwindi, you’ll begin the journey back to Kigali, with a scenic detour to Lake Bunyonyi. Early in the morning, enjoy breakfast before departing from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive to Lake Bunyonyi will take around 2-3 hours, offering breathtaking views of rolling hills and terraced farms along the way.
At Lake Bunyonyi, you’ll have the chance to relax and take in the tranquil beauty of the lake, Africa’s second-deepest. You can enjoy a boat ride on the lake, exploring its picturesque islands, or simply unwind by the water. After lunch by the lake, continue your journey toward Kigali, which takes about 4-5 hours.
You’ll drive through Uganda's stunning countryside and cross the border back into Rwanda, with scenic views of hills and valleys throughout. On arrival in Kigali in the late afternoon or evening, your guide will drop you off at your preferred location, marking the end of your memorable journey.
