Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi around 7:30–8:00 in the morning and begin your journey toward the Masai Mara in a 4x4 Land Cruiser. The drive takes you through the beautiful Great Rift Valley, where you’ll stop briefly at a viewpoint to enjoy sweeping landscapes and photo opportunities. You’ll then proceed past Narok town, the gateway to the Masai Mara, before arriving at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch and check-in. After a short rest, you’ll head out for your first evening game drive from around 3:30 to 6:30 pm, where you may spot lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and more. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay in the Masai Mara.

Masai Mara full-day game drive

After an early breakfast, you’ll set off with packed picnic lunches for a full-day safari experience in the vast Masai Mara National Reserve. The day will be spent exploring different regions of the park, including the Mara Triangle and the banks of the Mara River, where crocodiles and hippos thrive. Throughout the day, you’ll search for the famous “Big Five” – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino – as well as countless other wildlife species. During the migration season (July–October), you may witness the spectacular wildebeest crossing. Later in the afternoon, you’ll return to your lodge or camp, where you can relax by the bonfire or pool before enjoying dinner and overnight rest.

Masai Mara Full Exploration

You may choose to begin your day with an optional sunrise game drive to catch early morning animal activity, returning for breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, you can either head back into the park for a half-day game drive or opt for a visit to a nearby Maasai village, where you’ll experience traditional dances, customs, and learn about the Maasai way of life (entrance fee payable directly). The afternoon can be spent relaxing at the camp or enjoying another game drive, depending on your preference. In the evening, you’ll gather for dinner and spend your last night in the Masai Mara.

On your final day, you may take an optional sunrise game drive before breakfast to maximize your time in the reserve. You’ll arrive back in Nairobi in the late afternoon or early evening, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable 4-day Masai Mara safari adventure.
