2 travelers on Start dateWe will meet you at your hotel and begin our journey north, driving through the stunning chain mountains and dense forests of Mount Entoto. After about two hours of travel, we'll arrive at Debre Libanos, one of Ethiopia's most revered monasteries, founded in the 13th century by Saint Tekle Haymanot.
At Debre Libanos, we will visit the museum, which houses a collection of ancient Bible manuscripts and religious crosses. You will then explore the interior of the church and visit the tomb of the monastery's founder.
Next, we'll take a short 10-minute hike to the cave that served as a place of prayer for Saint Tekle Haymanot. Afterward, we'll drive to the Portuguese Bridge, located at the Blue Nile Gorge, where you'll enjoy breathtaking landscapes and have the chance to observe the endemic Gelada baboons and various Ethiopian bird species.
