Before dinner, our guide will brief you about this epic 10-day Uganda safari with gorillas and chimpanzees. We'll begin our adventurous safari to Uganda’s well-known destinations early in the morning.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, our guide will pick you up in a safari vehicle and drive through the northwestern region of Uganda, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind. On your way, you'll learn a lot about the countryside and fall in love with the inviting panoramic views and the horizons.

We'll drive through the memorable Luwero Triangle, known for the guerrilla war that brought the current regime (National Resistance Movement) into power in 1986. Our first stop is at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for the adventurous activity of trekking rhinos (one of the members of the Big Five) on foot. You will have an opportunity to get close to them and take photos.

Another stop will be in Masindi in order to enjoy your lunch. Continue to the park and check in to your accommodation to relax for the evening.

Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise On The Nile

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and transfer to this sprawling savannah where Africa’s well-known predators live. The morning game drive will help us catch up with the savannah’s early risers. Your guide will help you to spot elephant, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, Cape buffalo, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, hartebeest, and hyena, and on a lucky day, you will also see a leopard.

The savannah is also known for its abundant birdlife and a haven to more than 450 bird species that include the rare shoe-billed stork and cormorant. We return for lunch as we prepare for the afternoon's activities when we will go on a boat ride upstream of the calm, meandering Victoria Nile to the bottom of the gushing Murchison Falls for wildlife viewing. Return to your accommodation and have a relaxed evening.

After breakfast at your accommodation, depart right away for Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is quite long but incredibly scenic. You'll pass through villages, lush green countryside and hills dotted with tea plantations that characterize this part of Uganda. The beautiful scenery will amaze you all the way.

Kibale National Park is popular for its primates like chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and Uganda mangabeys. While on your chimpanzee trekking, you will see them swinging in the forest trees and others feeding on the wild fruits. You will reach your accommodation and check in, have dinner, and an overnight rest.

Have breakfast and head to the rangers’ post where you will receive a briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking. Thereafter, you will proceed to trek the chimps in the Kibale Forest. An experienced ranger guide will take you chimp tracking and you will be left amazed by the presence of primates here. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour in their presence.

You will return to the lodge for lunch and thereafter, you will head out for bigodi swamp walk. The Bigodi Wetlands boasts of an extensive array of biodiversity among which are several primates species like the black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and baboons. Bigodi is also a paradise for bird watchers. Among the major bird species within the area is the great blue turaco and after you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arrive in the evening and overnight at your booked accommodation.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the leading Uganda savannah destinations most visited by holidaymakers from all over the world. This is where the well-known African predators live and where hundreds of ungulates graze in the open. After breakfast, go on the safari game drive to search for the members of the Big Five before they disappear into the thickets. Return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest before your afternoon activity.

You will go on a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for 1 to 2 hours. The channel is a haven for over 600 bird types, hippo, crocodile, and Cape buffalo among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Transfer to Bwindi through the Ishasha plains

Have breakfast, then set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park – famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions. The chance of spotting these lions is about 70%, though sometimes they are hard to spot, especially when they are down in the grassland looking for prey. Hoping you get the chance to spot them, the sight will be spectacular!

Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda, harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas (roughly half of the world’s population). It includes several habituated groups which you will trek. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in at your accommodation, and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla-trekking experience the following day.

Day 8

Wake up and prepare your tracking gear as recommended and advised by our team. After breakfast, take your packed lunch and head to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the gorilla-trekking guidelines. Join the other gorilla trekkers in groups of about 8 people. The thick, verdant jungle is full of challenging adventures and is only for those who are physically fit. Along with the game ranger, track the gorillas through the walkable forest trails for about 2 to 4 hours until you encounter the forest giants - the mountain gorillas. Spend 1 hour interacting with them and then return to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for your gorilla-trekking experience in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Thereafter, you will return for lunch and then drive off to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200 – 2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes.

Day 9

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast and set off to Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara town. You will arrive in the early afternoon and take some rest before proceeding for the late afternoon/evening game viewing. On the game drive, expect to see the gigantic eland, zebra, topi, impala, Uganda kob and Cape buffalo among others. Later, relax at the accommodation where you will spend the night.

Optional: If you are interested, you can on the breathtaking Mburo night game drive (at an extra cost). During the night game drive, expect to see nocturnal creatures including snakes, hyenas, owls and elusive leopards (on a lucky day), among others.

Enjoy an early breakfast and proceed for the morning bushwalk in Mburo Park in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. On this early guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter, at close range, zebra, giraffe, eland, topi and other antelope, and Cape buffalo among others.

Take the trail to the top of the hills and see Lake Mburo and beyond. From this vantage point, you will have a great view of 9 of the 12 lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park. On arrival to Kampala you will be dropped off at the lodge or at the airport for your departure.
