Transfer from Kigali Airport for a city tour then to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, your 3-day Rwanda Gorilla tour guide will be there to pick you up. From the Airport, you head to Kigali city for a city tour and lunch. You visit a few historical and traditional sites on a short Kigali city tour with a visit to places like the Kigali Genocide Memorial. After the city tour, you have lunch and then embark on the drive northwest of Rwanda for a gorilla trek. About 2 hours spent on the drive take you through the picturesque backdrop of Rwanda. By sunset, you arrive at the park and check in to a booked lodging facility.

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Following breakfast, your driver-guide picks you up from the lodge for a drive to the park headquarters. Arriving at the park headquarters in Kinigi you first have a briefing on the dos and don’ts of Gorilla trekking in Rwanda by the park warden. By 8:30 am, the park ranger guide will transfer you to the trekking starting point for a gorilla trek. Each group is assigned a specific gorilla family to track.
After receiving the necessary gear such as walking sticks and rain jackets (if needed), trekkers set off into the dense forest under the guidance of experienced trackers and rangers. The trek can vary significantly in duration and difficulty depending on where the assigned gorilla family is located; it can take anywhere from one hour to several hours of hiking through steep terrain. Upon locating a gorilla family, you will be allowed one hour to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Transfer to Kigali

This morning, after breakfast you will be transferred back to Kigali International Airport for a departure flight. Depending on when you will be having your flight our driver guide can take you to souvenir shops in case you want to do any crafts shopping before departure.
