Day 1-2

Deception Valley Private Reserve - Bush Camp

Deception Valley Private Reserve - Bush Camp

Your safari begins in Maun where your guide will meet you at 14h30 at Maun Airport. You will travel to the the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve where you will be given a safari briefing. Night spent in The Dune Camp. This camp offers spectacular views the Kalahari, which cover 43,000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness. It has 8 chalets with en-suite bathrooms and verandas. The lodge features a bar, dining, a viewing lounge, and a swimming pool. (Meals: Day 1 - D).

You will explore the area for the next two days, enjoying game drives and a nature walk led by a local San tracker who will share bush knowledge and an insight into their culture.

The game drives enable viewing a variety of desert specialized wildlife including oryx, lion, hyena and cheetah. Savor the vast open spaces, clear night skies and uninterrupted beauty. (Meals: Day 2 - B, L, D).

Day 3

Makgadikgadi National Park - Xhumaga Village

On day 3 you'll rise with sun and do a short game drive before heading to the Makgadikgadi area. Here, you'll spend one night at Boteti River Camp, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi National Park, overlooking the Boteti River in Xhumaga village.

Arriving for Lunch at the camp you will have time for a short siesta and then enjoy a game drive along the Boteti River in the late afternoon. Boteti River Camp features five standard en-suite chalets, three family units, a swimming-pool, a dining area and a bar. View elephants from viewing lounge in the main area as they come for water.

This photographer’s wonderland offers striking scenes of vast open plains, dramatic tree silhouettes, and wandering herds of wildlife. The Park, which encompasses the largest saltpan in the world, provides a home for unusual species such as hartebeest, bat-eared fox, brown hyena, and cheetah.

Distance from Deception Valley Private Reserve to Boteti River Camp is 120 km (about 4-5 hrs, including game drive).

Day 4-6

Khwai Concession - Guesthouse

After breakfast you'll head west, stop over in Maun for lunch at a local restaurant at own expense (not included), and then proceed to Khwai. Your drive is through beautiful nature areas, game viewing as you go. A helicopter transfer option to Khwai is available (45min, rate TBA by the guide, payment in USD). Your journey to the Khwai River area, on the border of the Moremi Game Reserve, is one of the best wilderness areas of Botswana.

The next three days will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for. Game drives will explore the Khwai River (North-east Moremi / Khwai Concession), and you will have an opportunity to do a mokoro excursion (dugout canoe) on a tributary of the Khwai River. Your mokoro poler/guide will share hidden secrets of this water system. Accommodation at Khwai Guesthouse in the Khwai Village. (Meals: Day 1 - B, D. Day 2 - B, L, D).

Day 7-8

Your safari then heads north towards a rustic camp at the edge of Chobe National Park, where you will stay 2 nights to explore the northern reaches of the park. This will be a full day game drive through the Savuti area of the Chobe National Park towards the Chobe flood plains. You will have your picnic lunch break en-route and arrive at Chobe Elephant Camp late afternoon.

Time is spent in northern Chobe, a park which is incredibly rich in game due to the Chobe River providing water all year round. Large herds of elephant and buffalo and predators, such as lion and leopard, are frequently seen. While staying at the lodge you will do game drives and a boat cruise within the Chobe National Park.

Chobe Elephant Camp is an eco-friendly retreat built from the iconic red Kalahari sands of Botswana. Reminiscent of traditional African farmsteads the lodge has eighteen chalets, four of which are part of two family units.

Distance from Khwai to Chobe: 200 km (about 10 hrs, incl game drives).

On day 9 your journey crosses the border into Zimbabwe (Visa required) where you will spend two nights at Pioneers Victoria Falls lodge. Your guide will take you to the Kazungula border where you will meet the transfer vehicle.

Pioneers Lodge is an exquisite blend of the charm of yesteryear’s explorers and today’s modern amenities. Located in a tranquil residential suburb, the lodge ensures utmost privacy, exclusively for its residents. Nestled within manicured gardens, the fifty classic-styled rooms are spacious and equipped with air-conditioning, safes, and en-suite bathrooms. The heart of the lodge showcases a welcoming lounge and dining area.

The safari officially ends after breakfast on Day 11 at Pioneers Victoria Falls. Naturecrazi is happy to arrange post-tour accommodation and transfers to Victoria Falls airport or lodges or in Kasane, Botswana, at an additional cost.

Activities in Victoria Falls include White Water Rafting down the Zambezi Gorge, Canoeing on the upper Zambezi and Helicopter trips over the Victoria Falls. These excluded excursions can be arranged at the lodge reception.
