The extensive wildlife species and numbers represent a real-life Noah's Ark. The crater is home to nearly every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa, including the rare black rhino.

The crater features a river, several swamps, a soda lake that resembles steam when viewed from above and is filled with flamingos, a forest and expansive open plains. Due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and grasses, the large bull elephants in this area have impressive tusks. These elephants are some of the most incredible you will ever see!
