The Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon

This morning, your guide will collect you and depart early (07h00) from Johannesburg. Our route will take us through the agricultural and mining areas of the Highveld and continue to the Mpumalanga escarpment, where we will visit several attractions along the Panorama Route, including God's Window, the Bourke's Luck Potholes and the viewpoint over the Blyde River Canyon at the Three Rondavels.

The Panorama Route, along the Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga, is considered one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. It traverses the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. In the northeastern part of the Great Escarpment, the inland plateau declines steeply, offering fantastic views of the Lowveld plains that extend nearly a thousand meters below.

In the late afternoon, we will arrive at our hotel on the edge of the magnificent Drakensberg escarpment. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Lowveld. Dinner will be at your own expense.

The Kruger National Park - Big Five Game Viewing

We will depart from Angels View at dawn and head to the nearest entry gate of Kruger National Park. Angels View will provide breakfast packs, which we will enjoy inside the park. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that is among the best in Africa. After a morning of game viewing you will be dropped off at Lukimbi Safari Lodge in time for lunch.

Lukimbi is situated on a private concession within Kruger National Park, bordered by three major river systems. This unique location provides a diverse array of habitats, resulting in the park's highest concentration and widest variety of wildlife.

Later this afternoon, you will embark on your first exhilarating game drive in specially adapted open 4x4 vehicles. As dusk falls, we will enjoy sundowners deep in the bush, followed by a continued drive using spotlights to search for nocturnal animals. Dinner will be served in the lodge restaurant or, weather permitting, around a crackling fire in the boma.

Open Vehicle Game Drives in the Kruger National Park

An early wake-up signals an exciting day in the African bush. Begin your day before sunrise with a homemade rusk dunked into a steaming cup of coffee before heading out on your morning safari. An assigned ranger will take you on an open-vehicle game drive through Big Five territory, where you may encounter lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo. Breakfast will be served upon your return to the lodge.

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Join your ranger for a bush walk, unwind in your room or relax by the pool. Lunch will be served on the deck, offering beautiful views of the surrounding bushveld. After a refreshing afternoon siesta, you can meet for afternoon tea before embarking on a late afternoon or evening game drive. As dusk falls, you will enjoy sundowners deep in the bush, and the drive will continue using spotlights to search for nocturnal animals. Dinner will be served at the lodge restaurant or, weather permitting, around a crackling fire outside.

Early Morning Open Vehicle Game Drive in Kruger National Park and Return to Johannesburg

An early wake-up call marks the beginning of an exciting day in the African bush. Before sunrise, start your day by dunking a homemade rusk into a steaming cup of coffee. Then, set off on your morning safari in an open vehicle with your assigned ranger. Off-road driving is permitted, allowing you to get closer to the Big Five and other wildlife while respecting their space.

After your final game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred from Lukimbi Safari Lodge to Johannesburg. You can choose your drop-off location, including O.R. Tambo International Airport. Along the way, you will enjoy a light lunch.

This tour can also begin in Cape Town, which requires a flight from Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit. An overnight stay in Nelspruit will be necessary before starting the tour. Please note that the flight and accommodation in Nelspruit are not included in the tour package.
