Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will drive into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. When you first see Ngorongoro Crater, it appears to be a forgotten world. Hidden by steep volcanic walls, this pristine wilderness features expansive savannahs, pockets of acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. The Crater was formed when a large volcano erupted and collapsed two to three million years ago, covering an area of 260 square kilometers. It is renowned for its geological wonders and as a natural reserve that hosts some of the densest populations of large mammals on the African continent.
As you descend into the Crater, you will quickly encounter large numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and more than 500 species of birds. The Crater offers the best chance to see the endangered black rhino. After exploring, you will transit through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to enter the Serengeti from the southern side of the park.

Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti is truly spectacular, known for its vast open grasslands that provide excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Its climate and vegetation have remained largely unchanged for millions of years. While it is home to abundant wildlife, the region is especially famous for the annual Great Migration. During this event, vast numbers of wildebeest, along with large groups of zebras and antelope, move in a consistent pattern, always in search of fresh grazing lands. The migration occurs throughout the year; you just need to know the best places to see the animals during specific times.
In addition to the iconic landscapes, there’s a good chance of encountering predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, making it a truly life-changing experience.
In the afternoon, you will begin your journey back to Karatu, hopefully enjoying more wonders along the way!

Lake Manyara National park To Arusha
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park located 120 km west of Arusha. Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale. The park is both compact—being one of the narrowest parks in Africa—and epic, as the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary.
The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake that covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons. This lake is home to thousands of wading birds, including flamingos, as well as over 500 other bird species. In the park's thick evergreen forest, you may see baboons and elephants, and keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing lions.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. After your game drive, you will bid farewell to your guide and be dropped off at a location of your choice, such as Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope you have enjoyed your adventure with Rumi Tanzania safaris!
