Our representative will be waiting for you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport when you arrive in Kenya's fast-growing capital city, Nairobi.

Day 2

Nairobi to Aberdare National Park/Mt Kenya

Driving north of Nairobi and climbing steadily out of the Great Rift Valley, you'll head into the Aberdare Mountain range passing through farming communities. After two and a half hours, you'll reach the Aberdare Country Club for lunch.
After lunch, you'll transfer to the Ark. Modelled after Noah's Ark. The Ark features 4 viewing decks with balconies and vast viewing windows to provide game watching, all from the comfort of the lodge. After settling in, you'll head out to one of the viewing areas or down to the bunker to quietly watch the floodlit waterhole which attracts a host of wildlife including elephants, buffalos, monkeys, warthogs, baboons. There is also a range of forest birds.
At night, the resident ranger stays on watch and will buzz your room if an interesting animal comes to the waterhole with one ring for elephants, two for rhinos, three for leopards, and four for other unusual sightings. You're free to turn the buzzer off if you would rather have a full night's sleep.

Day 3

Aberdare to Lake Nakuru National Park

Aberdare to Lake Nakuru National Park

You'll transfer from Aberdare to Lake Nakuru. En route, you will stop at the striking Thompson Falls on the Ewaso Ngiro River. The waters originate on the western slopes of Mount Kenya and descend over a seventy-meter waterfall just outside the town of Nyahururu.
You'll continue to Nakuru National Park and the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, your base for the next two nights. You'll have lunch at the lodge. Then, you'll have your first game drive along the shores of Lake Nakuru on the lookout for both the white rhino and the endangered black rhino as well as other mammals and birds. Your lodge for the next two nights is situated just above the lake, rooms are in cottages set in the landscaped gardens, there is a big swimming pool and terrace, a restaurant offering an extensive selection of dishes, and a bar with an outdoor fire pit to which to retire to after dinner.

Day 4

Lake Nakuru National Park Game Drive

Rising early before breakfast, you will head out on the lookout for both the white rhino and the endangered black rhino. Lake Nakuru presents you with the best chance to see rhinos. The park also hosts herds of buffalos, zebras, and giraffes, as well as flocks of striking pink flamingos. Other birdlife is prolific on the shores of the lake with pink-backed and white pelicans found wading in the shallow soda lake shore as well as spoonbills, marabou storks, and sacred ibis. You'll stop on the shores of the lake for photographs of the spectacular setting.
You'll return to your lodge for a late breakfast as the day starts to heat up. The hottest part of the day is spent at leisure at the camp, offering the chance of a siesta, a dip in the pool, relaxation time reading a book, or birdwatching. You'll enjoy an afternoon-evening game drive that begins around 4 pm.

Today's journey takes you across the floor of the Rift Valley and then up and over the Mau Escarpment, traveling through open bushland interspersed with rural villages and farming communities.
You'll arrive in the Mara early in the afternoon in time for a late lunch. You will head out for an afternoon-evening game drive after lunch, and return as the sun goes down, after which there is time to freshen up and meet for a drink at the bar before dinner. After dinner, you can retire to sit around a roaring fire to relive the highlights of the day and admire the amazing stars of the African night sky. Don't forget to sleep early because tomorrow is another busy day.

Day 6

Covering an area of 1,500 square kilometers, the Masai Mara hosts one of the largest concentrations of animals anywhere in the world. The wildlife is prolific at any time of year, but during the months between the end of July and the beginning of October, huge herds of wildebeest and zebras migrate into the Mara from the adjacent Serengeti National Park, in search of fresh grasses that flourish after the rains, often pursued by predators such as hyenas, lions and cheetahs.
You will embark on two game drives today, one in the early morning and one mid-afternoon, with time in between at our comfortable lodge for taking a dip in the swimming pool or reading a book.

Remaining in the Maasai Mara for a third day, you'll drive further into the national reserve. Depending on sightings, our expert safari driver guides will generally spend the maximum time on game drives, trying to cover as large an area as possible including the river tributaries of the reserve. You'll get the best chances of seeing a variety of wildlife.
The Mara hosts an abundance of mammals including lions, elephants, and wildebeest as well as numerous antelope species from elands, hartebeests, bushbucks, gazelles, impalas, and waterbucks to name but a few. For keen birdwatchers, there is an astonishing variety of birds to spot. Be sure to keep an eye on soaring vultures and eagles on the lookout for a recent kill.

After an early breakfast, you'll drive back to Nairobi, a journey of around five hours. The trip ends at the airport for your next transfer or a place of your choice within the Nairobi environs.
If you're leaving at night, we will take you on a brief city tour and you could even do some souvenir shopping from the Nairobi Masai market.
