The Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon

This morning you will be collected by your guide and depart early from Johannesburg. Our route takes us through the agricultural and mining areas of the Highveld. It continues to the Mpumalanga escarpment where we visit many attractions along the Panorama Route including God’s Window, the Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the viewpoint over the Blyde River Canyon at the Three Rondavels. The Panorama Route along the Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga is arguably one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. It leads through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. Here, in the northeastern part of the Great Escarpment, the inland plateau declines abruptly and steeply open up fantastic views of the plains of the Lowveld up to a thousand meters below.
In the late afternoon, we will arrive at our hotel positioned on the edge of the magnificent Drakensberg escarpment with spectacular views of the plains of the Lowveld below. Dinner is for your own account.

Panorama Route and The Kruger National Park - Big 5 Game Viewing

After an early breakfast at Angels View we visit the Graskop Gorge Lift where we descend into the Afromontane forest. Once in the gorge, 600 metres of elevated walkways provide a path from which to explore the forest and its vast array of flora and fauna. Interactive displays along the way showcase the highlights of the area. We then travel to the nearest entry gate of the Kruger Park. After a morning of game viewing with your guide, you will be dropped off at Lukimbi Safari Lodge in time for lunch.
Lukimbi Safari Lodge is situated on its own private concession inside the Kruger National Park.
Later this afternoon your first exhilarating game drive in specially adapted open 4X4 vehicles is undertaken. At dusk sundowners are enjoyed deep in the bush, after which the drive continues, making use of spotlights to search for nocturnal animals. Dinner is enjoyed in the lodge’s restaurant or, weather permitting, in the boma around a crackling fire.

Open Vehicle Game Drives in the Kruger National Park and Optional Bush Walk

An early wake-up signals an exciting day in the African bush. Start your day before sunrise, dunking a homemade rusk into a steamy cup of coffee before setting off on your morning safari. An assigned ranger will take you into the bush on an open-vehicle game drive. Since this is Big Five territory, encountering lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo is possible on this safari. Breakfast is enjoyed on your return to Lukimbi Safari Lodge.

The rest of the day is at leisure — experience a bush walk with your ranger, retire to your room and relax or laze at the pool. Lunch is served on the deck with beautiful views of the surrounding bushveld. After an afternoon siesta, meet for afternoon tea before heading out on your late afternoon/evening game drive. At dusk, sundowners are enjoyed deep in the bush, after which the drive continues, using spotlights to search for nocturnal animals. You will enjoy dinner at the lodge’s restaurant or, weather permitting, around a crackling fire.

Early Morning Open Vehicle Game Drive in Kruger National Park and Return to Johannesburg

An early wake-up signals an exciting day in the African bush. Kick-start your day before the sun rises, dunking a homemade rusk into a steamy cup of coffee before setting off on your morning safari with your assigned ranger into the bush on an open vehicle game drive safari. Off-road driving is permitted to get you closer to the "Big 5" and the other wildlife while respecting their space.
After your final open vehicle game drive and breakfast, you are collected from Lukimbi Safari Lodge and transferred back to Johannesburg where you are dropped off at a location of your choice or O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg. A light lunch is enjoyed en-route to Johannesburg.

*This tour can start in Cape Town with a flight from Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit. An overnight stay in Nelspruit will be required before starting this tour. - Flight and accommodation in Nelspruit is not included. Please enquire for further information*.
