We will meet you in the morning at Gondar Airport or your hotel in Gondar.
Our journey begins with a scenic drive from Gondar to Debark, the administrative headquarters of the Simien Mountains National Park. Upon arrival, we will stop to obtain the necessary permits for park entry and meet our local scout who will accompany us throughout the trek.
During our visit to Debark, we can enjoy a tea and coffee break, and if time permits, we will explore the local market. The market operates daily, with larger markets taking place every Wednesday and Saturday, offering a vibrant glimpse into the daily life of the locals.
From Debark, we will continue our drive to the park entrance, located about 16 kilometers from the town. Once we reach the national park gate, we will begin our trek.
We will continue our trek to Sankaber Camp, where we will set up camp for the first night, surrounded by the beauty of the Simien Mountains.

Sankaber Camp – Gich Camp
After breakfast, we begin our 15 km trek to Gich Camp, taking around 7 hours. The trail offers stunning views over the foothills, passing through lush vegetation like Giant Heather, Abyssinian Rose, and Globe Thistle. Along the way, you may spot Gelada baboons, Klipspringer, Bushbuck, and Rock Hyrax. We will visit Jinba Waterfalls, Ethiopia’s longest, and view various vultures, the Lammergeier. After a picnic by the Jinba River, we continue to Gich village. Optionally, you can visit a local home for coffee. At Gich Camp, enjoy a snack before a short sunset trek to Kedadit for 360-degree views of the mountains.

The sunrise at Gich Camp offers a peaceful start to the day. After breakfast, we begin our climb to Mt. Imet Gogo (3,926 meters), a rocky promontory famous for its panoramic views. The gentle 300-meter ascent leads to the summit, where you'll enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of the Simien Mountains.
We then descend 300 meters into the valley, the source of the Jinba River, passing through lush vegetation, Festuca grasslands, Lobelia plants, everlasting flowers, and Erica arborea trees. We continue through this scenic landscape to Aynmeda Camp, where your vehicle will be waiting. From there, we drive to the historic city of Gondar, concluding the adventure.
